[2013] NMIMS Final Results Discussion!

The childish way in which some people target others on public forums is sad.

I've spoken to a senior from NM who're working with and he's said that CM and BM probably get the most focused profile as per their courses. Because of which they grow well, but only in their fields.

In my opinion, people should pursue an MBA which lets them shift between lets say, Sales functions and Distribution functions, and pursue a course which gives them scope for a change in the same broad field.

So for those people who're joining CM/BM out of genuine interest, its gonna be a great course and a great career ahead in that industry, and for those who're giving it a miss, there are some great BSchools out there for you guys.

I let CM go last year, put in some more effort, and converted Core/SPJIMR/IMT this year, so there's always a possibility of doing better. Plus, my profile isnt outstanding. So there's no point being pessimistic to begin with.

@gs4890 , chill man, this guy's trying to needle you for fun. If you're not taking up CM this year, there is better stuff in store.

I have already taken admission in CM which was my 3rd preference. Now I have been selected in BM which was my 2nd preference. Will i get automatically transferred to my higher preference ? Bacause I dont want to take up BM but stay with CM only. Do I need to mail them or something ? Plz help puys.

nm cm is an awesome course....it's just that u shud have a burning pashion to sell all ur assets and come on road by the end of two-years 😛

As far as core is concerned, one thing seems really odd to me.

Last year 300 seats - rank moved till 650
This year 360 seats - rank should move till 780 theoretically.
But from yesterday's announcement I don't think it'll even reach 700. Weird.

Last yr 342 were admitted in NM core course. Source: Last yr thread
@abhinav_insane Ah, now that should explain it.

It seems that there have been more cancellations this year for NM core which is making it difficult for them to estimate the number of buffer calls and so the 3rd merit list has been deliberately postponed to accommodate the cancellations that will take place due to announcement of XIMB and XLRI results. Thus NM is opting for a wait and watch policy before announcing the fourth list.

I have a feeling that the increase in fees has impacted the ROI factor of NMIMS.

It is a smart policy by NM to postpone the waitlist...the maximum number of cancellations will be in the first week of april as XL, ABCL will declare their list in couple of days

@ANS13 ABCL in couple of days 😲 ...it may take around 2 weeks to get the result out :)
@Savvy316 : Depends upon your interest..I'm an HR convert and going for it..so I think you sholud eventually decide based on what you would like doing everyday for the next 30 yrs

I agreee but I seriously doubt whether HR placements are of same level as of XLRI or TISS or SCMHRD
@dhinamajeevitam Dude if you cant afford an MBA at then stop blaming courses. Firstly you should stop appearing in NMAT all together, dont have any misconceptions about core placements either. And i pity ppl like you who have such immature impressionable minds, GROW up buddy. Whoever told you that you "sell of your assets" after MBA CM is probably a looser who did nothing but time pass during his two years of MBA and now that he has nothing in hand he is blaming XY and Z. People who genuinely put in efforts are doing extremely well in their lives. Problem is not the course, its attitude of ppl like you who want everything given to them in a platter. I wish it was that easy, if you have the guts and the will to do hardwork, i can assure you that you can land up with dream jobs, have seen that myself!

But with such an attitude i dont think you would do good anywhere. Grow up, work on self belief first and then join a B School in India.

Yeah dude the EMI is going to be there.I myself was confused some time back like u are.. did a whole lot of research before payin my fee..I know a guy from IIM - A who passed out this year n got a package of 11lpa..he is a fresher n said just add 1 - 1.5 lacs as per work ex for others..even the NM - Core avg salary is projected at 13.04 but its actually just 11lpa....now compare the fees of IIM and NM..almost the same..for ppl who are confused n not clear what they want to do..join core n figure out else dont join..risk not worth it if in the end u dont like the course..NMIMS is a brand name..no doubt about it..it will attract companies n its up 2 you to convert..dont know about CM but as for the HR course..the avg is close to 10 with highest being 18lpa...so for ppl who are sayin go for SCMHRD for HR instead, pls get your facts right..even their avg is close to 10..N as far as the EMI goes, being a GEM in India, we only have a handful of colleges where the competition is way way too much n there is no sure call of a convert even next yr..but this is totally up2 the individual...The course is only a passport to enter a company with a decent sal, which you should get here..rest is all up2 the individual..u do well, u go up the ladder..get more money n change companies..loan will be covered in round 3 yrs..so in the end, it all boils down to your interest..
Oh n as far as doing the same course from a MHROD is concerned, n takin about the interest of an individual, there is a possibility that the MHROD guy may do better i his life bcuz of his/her passion for that work..but the purpose for all of us entering good colleges n writing all these exams is that we get a better start in terms of salary..which is around the 10lpa mark...if u dreamin about 15 - 16..then it doesn't happen..only a few ppl get such good salaries..n if u think u got it in you...u can do that at NM as well.

PS - Dont mean to start an argument on this thread..this is what I feel..pls feel free to correct me so that we all are rewarded by this discussion

yeah thts what I am saying a good college gives u a good platform as compared to a mediocre college and it doesnt matter how passionate u are because u will have to struggle a lot if u join a mediocre college and dude dont compare IIMs with NM they are far better even if an NM student gets the same package as that of an IIMite the IIMite has the advantage of the IIM brand which will always help him in the long run
@pksingh3232 : Agreed man, the brand matters..but what I meant to say was that NM is not such a bad college that you cannot even consider to join having the attitude that the returns totally suck...just gave an example to support my statement which I personally came across.
@pksingh3232 : They are when compared to SCMHRD..not at par with XL n TISS for sure

i heavily doubt that scmhrd is in the league of xl... dunno bt tiss...
@rahul.fundu : bro looks like u are very weak in verbal interpretation skills.I was talking about passion u should have towards the course.nowhere did I mention that fees was high nor the bleak placements.but now seeing ur reaction I came 2 know about both of them.

what was ur V.A score in NMAT BTW?
@dhinamajeevitam : The person who spells passion as 'pashion' should not ask others their verbal score.
