Just one more step to the final offer of joining India's premier institute!

All of you Puys are welcome to ask any sort of admission/preparation related queries w.r.t Indian Institute of Management Tiruchirappalli (IIM Trichy) in this thread.

All you guys might have this query w.r.t how to go about the preparations and stuff. So here is COOLTWINS - our fellow friend from IIM Trichy with some tips:

Remember one thing. If you have a call then you are totally worth that seat. So don't be apprehensive about it. To convert the call all that you now need to do is PREPARE.The interview will not be so stressing. It was kind of chilled last year..Some interview panels asked questions regarding the current affairs and our take on it. But mostly they asked us about our UG discipline (eg. about earthquake resistant structures and how they work) and the news related to that (for eg. if you're a civil engineer, they asked about the sethu samudhram project, mullai periyar dam and other such issues.). Apart from that for the work ex candidates they questioned about the company and their experience. The general stuff included the details that we've filled in the form. REMEMBER, FILL ONLY WHAT YOU ARE REALLY COMFORTABLE WITH, IN THE FORM. if you exaggerate or write something not true the panel would easily find it. They would question you a lot on it. And read up a lot about the hobbies you're pursuing too. (for eg. if you've written something about photography, they would ask you questions like 'who is your role model in the field?', 'which camera are you using, specifications..?', 'What is shutter speed? how you can use shutter speed?')
For the essay keep reading a lot! Read the news papers, some magazines like The economist, etc. Try to understand the both side arguments of the debates that have been happening in the recent past. They give us topics like current affairs or general topic (like liberalization of PSUs) and you can write a decent shot only if you have read a lot on it.
So sincere preparation from now is what you need. All the best!

P.S: this is applicable to all candidates who have a call. Do please go through this. and start the preparation. We will keep giving you more tips in this thread.

Congrats!
You have a gud CAT score and a decent acads (commerce background as well). Also, with work exp and extra curricular activities you should be able to convert the call.


You have a month's time and hence do prepare well for the WAT&PI.;
You need to know all the relevant subject w.r.t Mgmt (Finance, Economics etc.) and also the work exp related queries can be expected as well.
Of course newspaper, News discussions @ night etc are crucial too!
Do attend GD/PI sessions in your city of preference (the best institute as per your friends and other peer group)

Congrats!

Your profile is really good with masters degree and CFA too.
Being from commerce background you can refer the post above w.r.t preparation (barring wrk-ex).
And being CFA level 1, you can expect lot of questions w.r.t the subjects.

Note: I would advise you to call up Adm Office at IIM Raipur, inform them about the error in Grad marks and enquire on what can be possibly done (to be on the safe side!).

You can refer to my reply for the first post w.r.t preparations.

The number of seats is unchanged (same as that of the current batch -100)
Since IIM Raipur is conducting the admission process for all 6 IIMs, you will be intimated only by them and not from IIM Trichy. Our college will intimate you when you are selected for admission to the course offered here.

@getnikhil23 Hi what was the lowest CAT score convert at IIM Trichy last year as they have 50 percent weightage for CAT scores?

@getnikhil23 And one more thing is the 50 percent score weightage for CAT calculated as overall percentile divided by 2 or they take into account the normalised scores. Please reply? as i am worried if i can convert at 97.27 percentile.

The admissions criteria has been changed and hence you cant draw any sort of conclusion w.r.t the conversion of call and CAT score. This time the weightage is increased to 50% as you said.
All I can say is you have a gud chance of conversion and prepare well for the next round!
