Continuing with the discussion..
What Ms. Sonia Gandhi has rightly said, has been engraved in each and every Indian's mind since 16th december. But I certainly believe that its not empty words that we need, there need to be actions to support the claims made by her as well as many other politicians.
6 fast track courts won't do good. There are about 1 lakh cases stuck in the pipeline and since 16th december there have again been a horrific number of rape cases.
The other firm belief that I have is, had Sonia Gandhi and some other representatives of our so called democratic society come up way earlier than they did, a lot of protests, angst and anger could have been avoided in the general public.

@Debdeep_Siib ..Rape has become a stigma in our society.Indian Women are respected and addressed as mothers and sisters.This kind of barbaric act against a women is not at all called for.The protest across the country is totally justified and the government should take strictest of measure against the culprits and amend its laws so that no other person dares to think about it.
Rape in india has become a hot topic for indian newspapers.These days we frequently see such acts occuring all over the country.Apart from amending the laws, the government should spread awareness through sex/adult education.
Also, as far as capital punishment is concerned. I feel people need to realise all the aspects before forming opinions. First of all, no matter how inhumane the crime was, we all are still humans.
Secondly, if there is death penalty for rape cases, there won't be any survivors from now on. Because it's the girl who comes up and reports a rape. And its the medical tests done on a live body that support her claims.
A rape case and a murder, if both have a death penalty the rapist would for sure kill his victims knowing that even if he set her free he would still be facing a death penalty in either case.
Very much rightly said by @dm11 .. we cant have death penalty for the rape cases for the reason @dm11 .. bt what I think is giving even harsh punishments wont solve the problem.. instead we should make our street, our city, our states, our country as much secure as no such threat even happens.. for that our political as well as cultural system should be well beahved and well balanced as well as corruption free.. Security task force should be increase.. latest technologies should be used in country's security system.. and most importantly respect towords woman should be teach from the school education itself..
In light of the current events, it's high time people see some results. Posing a capital punishment is an easy task to shun the matter at hand. it may sound in-human to some, but the government should pose a strict punishment wherein the perpetrators are made to suffer. Death is an easy way out. if you make them realize the pain and the suffering their "prey" went through, that would surely leave an imprint.
Look at gulf countries, the punishments are so in-humane that they give chills through the spine of most of the public. These punishments are the real justice that can be given to the victims and their family. Make them Suffer, Make them Beg for their Death, and do all this with full transparency.Indian government has to bring out some STRICT, CRUEL, INDIFFERENT
laws, that will force the future criminals to fear the law.
