@shayon62 This thread is dedicated to preparations for the GE-PI process and we will be putting up topics for discussion here very soon. We will post a topic and then give all of you about two days to discuss it at length and after approx 2 days we will post our own analysis on the topic.

@shayon62 This thread solely dedicated for preparation of the GE-PI process. We will be posting topics here for aspirants to discuss at length and after approx 2 days we will come up with our own analysis for it. The first topic will be released very soon.

Please try to make it a topic to dicuss like does capital punishment is the correct way to go for gangrape cases...??

Assuming that we are given exactly the same topic for our actual group discussion , we cannot question the moderator.

Continuing with the discussion..

What Ms. Sonia Gandhi has rightly said, has been engraved in each and every Indian's mind since 16th december. But I certainly believe that its not empty words that we need, there need to be actions to support the claims made by her as well as many other politicians.
6 fast track courts won't do good. There are about 1 lakh cases stuck in the pipeline and since 16th december there have again been a horrific number of rape cases.

The other firm belief that I have is, had Sonia Gandhi and some other representatives of our so called democratic society come up way earlier than they did, a lot of protests, angst and anger could have been avoided in the general public.

@Debdeep_Siib ..Rape has become a stigma in our society.Indian Women are respected and addressed as mothers and sisters.This kind of barbaric act against a women is not at all called for.The protest across the country is totally justified and the government should take strictest of measure against the culprits and amend its laws so that no other person dares to think about it.

Rape in india has become a hot topic for indian newspapers.These days we frequently see such acts occuring all over the country.Apart from amending the laws, the government should spread awareness through sex/adult education.

Also, as far as capital punishment is concerned. I feel people need to realise all the aspects before forming opinions. First of all, no matter how inhumane the crime was, we all are still humans.
Secondly, if there is death penalty for rape cases, there won't be any survivors from now on. Because it's the girl who comes up and reports a rape. And its the medical tests done on a live body that support her claims.

A rape case and a murder, if both have a death penalty the rapist would for sure kill his victims knowing that even if he set her free he would still be facing a death penalty in either case.
