Puys,
I am starting a new thread for season 2012. I hope its different from season 2011. Here is my wish list -
1. Championship is decided in last race
2. Indian GP is voted as most exciting race of the season
3. No Baharain Gp
4. Kimi gets onto the podium within first 3 races
5. Schumi wins a race and can challenge top teams for Championship
6. Pirelli tyres focus more on excitement rather then reliability.
My wishes
1)Some fresh face wins a race
2)A new champion :p
3)Me watching schumi win at Bush circuit.
4)Kimi finishing at top 3 of championship table
5)Force India to finish in top 5
Great to see this year's thread alive and kicking
My prediction
1) Vettel wins 2012 championship and becomes a triple world champion.
2) Lotus-Renault and Force India would challenge the likes of Mercedes for a top 4 finish.
3) Schumi winning a race this season.
4) the likes of caterham, marussia giving a close fight to williams .
5) Force India getting a podium.
My wish-
1. Vettel not winning the championship.
2. Schumi in top 3 of driver's standings and a gp win for him too.
3. Kimi getting at least a podium.
4. A gp win for force india.
5. Mercedes in top3 and force india in top5.
MY only wish.
1- me going to see the 2012 race in noida.
Hope to revisit the Indian GP again this year...last year has been memorable for me...a lifetime experience...also can't wait for the beginning of the season...Albert Park : 67 days to go 😃

Jarno Trulli is no more a part of F1.He is replaced by Petrov at Caterham.
Sad to see the senior pros going out one bu one.
Have fond memories of trulli, frentzen, mika salo, schumi, mika hakinnon, barrichello from the days i started following f-1 back in 1998-1999.
Time to move on
aweome yaaar.......!
m so happy to find a thread on F1....

Difficult to pick a clear winner at the moment since winter testing suggests a different picture.
The times set in the winter tests are not indicative. The general assumption comparing various factors (tires, lap times, track temp. wind, fuel and team programmes), it looks like the McLaren are fairly confident, RBR are confident but not as much as last year since off throttle blown diffuser ban has had a major effect on them. Yet they have an asset in Adrian Newey. Ferrari is struggling with it's "bold" concept but seems to be getting over it. Mercedes has something up their sleeves and they are definitely sand-bagging. Lotus is quick but is hampered by it's chassis problem which cost them 4/12 days of testing.
My order (at least in Melbourne)
McLaren
RBR
Ferrari
Merc
Lotus

as you said tests times are not indicative...but still imo at least for Albert Park it will be McLaren or RBR who will vie for the P1...for Ferrari, still not sure about their race speed, may be we will get an idea in one/two races.
Also about the constructors, Ferrari needs a strong support this season in the form of Massa...otherwise they are just out of the whole constructors championship thing
anyways...12 days to go...Albert Park
Yes, that's what I mentioned with McLaren and RBR.
Regarding Massa, I doubt he will. Many think that the 2009 Hungary incident has effected him. From what I think, the incident in Germany 2010 was the turning point in his Ferrari career. This is his swansong season at Ferrari at least.
I have a feeling that Button might win at Albert Park.
@Neel Jani : You share your name with a f-1 test driver !

Haha, yes I do and it feels strange (should I say, good?) to share a name with someone from a sport I adore.
Albert Park could be anyone's game. It creates surprises as well.
One interesting stat I would like to share is that over the last 6/8 seasons, the winner of the Australian GP has gone on to clinch the Driver's championship.
With the Season just hours away, let me put down a preview of what I think will happen over the season.
Red Bull Racing
Sebastian Vettel
The defending double world champion is a definitive favourite at the start of the season. 2011 was very simple for him, put the car on pole with a brilliant lap, pull away from the 1st lap, win the race, show the no. 1 finger and go home. However 2012 might not be so straightforward. The field has bunched up and this might be the season where we might see him fighting in the pack (which most has critisised him for to be lacking). However few would bet against him being in serious contention for a 3rd title.
Preview points - 9.5/10
Mark Webber
Many thought that he pushed Vettel in 2009 and 2010 but the statistics reveal a different story. In 2010, if not for those mistakes from Vettel in Turkey, Hungary and Belgium and bad luck in races such as Bahrain, Australia, Spain and Korea, he would have been comfortably ahead of Mark. However Mark got cl
Aus GP Qualifying Results and my highlights
1)Hamilton: 7 tenths ahead of the second placed man at one time in q3. My pick for tmrw race.
2)Button: Mclaren 1-2 .
3)Grosjean : Lotus proves to be a surprise . Kimi though had a forgettable outing with steering locking issues.
Ferrari: Abysmal performance, could very well become a mid tier team with mercedes, lotus showing improvement in performance. Massa struggled (like last year and the year before that) , alonso made a driver's error.
Force India: Nico made it to q3 but with williams and Torro Rosso showing some fight , task cut out for Force India.
I hope to see schumi on the podium tomorrow . Its been a long time .
Nice to see a new line up of commentators at star sports with mark galagher and tim harvey .
never understood a word of Gary Anderson last year.
He btw is now part of BBC F1 Team as a technical specialist.
Adios
damn it ,i missed the qualifiers...! :banghead::banghead::banghead:
tomorrow is a big day...ain't gonna miss it
Aussie GP Done !!
Results :
1. Button Mclaren
2. Vettel Red Bull
3. Hamilton Mclaren
4. Webber Red Bull
5. Fernando Alonso Ferrari
6. Kamui Kobayashi Sauber
7. Kimi Raikkonen Lotus
Awesome drive from the Iceman Kimi Raikkonen, who started from 17th and made up 10 places !! Hopefully he'll qualify higher up Malaysia onwards....
After passing Hamilton in the first lap, Button was nigh uncatchable.
Also it was a Mclaren 1-2 till Vettel passed hamilton after a brief safety car period in the later stages....
I predict this season to be a constructor battle between Mclaren and Red Bull. Mclaren seem to have caught up in the pre-season testing & development....
And i sincerely hope Raikko can challenge for the driver's title !!!!!!!
So any comments puys ???
And i sincerely hope Raikko can challenge for the driver's title !!!!!!!
that is a hope many of us have, but truly speaking challenging for the driver's title is a bit more expectation at this point of time. Obviously there is no issue in Kimi's driving ability, also the car has the race pace somewhat which is proved by his teammate RG. But two things can be matter of concern in future.
First, small problems and other issues like Kimi faced in qualifying(steering problem)...to challenge for championship, this things matters big in long run.
And second, budget issue...Lotus does not have the huge financial support like the biggies(eg Ferrari, RBR, McLaren), so in the later stage development process can make a difference.
May be after some significant time span, we can have Kimi as a title contender.
