Welcome all SIIB Aspirants!!
The Admissions Team takes great pleasure in reaching out to you all. As we take the first step forward on this thread, we declare that we'll help you in the many steps that you shall take in the journey you've stepped foot on.
A brief introduction about the revered family we are part of...
The Symbiosis Institute of International Business (SIIB), formerly known as the Symbiosis Institute of Foreign Trade (SIFT) and an integral part of the Symbiosis International University (SIU), was established in 1992 to provide budding managers with the foresight to tackle the sweeping changes of the liberalized Indian economy. The dictum of the institution has always been to 'Equip for Change' which it has successfully done for the last nineteen years.
And we, the twentieth batch of sudents, can really feel that. "We're really getting better equipped for change."
In an increasingly globalised network, SIIB has emerged as a B-school that is ahead of the curve with pioneering work in MBA programs like
MBA - International Business (MBA-IB)
MBA - Agri Business (MBA-AB)
MBA - Energy & Environment (MBA-E&E;)
This shall be the 2012-14 Official thread for all Admissions related queries. The Admissions team at SIIB would try its best to answer all of your admission related queries.

Welcome to the thread. It's too early to take a call on cutoffs. However, going by the last 2-3 years' trends, what you say might just come true. And, the competition to get into SIIB has also been increasing year after year. Let's keep fingers crossed. All the very best for your preparations! Do well.

Well, since last year, the concept of sectional cut-offs has been scrapped. It's just the overall SNAP score that is considered for the GD-PI stage.
Keep following this thread for more on SIIB admission dates. The dates shall be put up on SIIB website soon. Registrations close one day prior to the SNAP test, ie, December 17, 2011.
Work-ex is certainly a factor but one of the many factors considered for selection of a candidate. FYI there're a lot of freshers in both the junior as well as the senior batch. What really matters is good SNAP score and performances in GD and PI. So, work-ex factor wouldn't play a major role. Keep the spirits up and prepare well. All the best!

Apologies for the delayed reply.
It was a conscious attempt last year to lower the cut-off. I'll tell you why. Firstly, the number of seats for MBA-AB was increased to close to 60 in 2011 and the number of calls for interviews too was drastically increased to accommodate students of diversified profile and relevant work experience. For a course as specific as AB, the institute prefers students with Agri background in terms of UG qualification and work experience. And that's reflected in the batch profile. However, the lowest score secured by a student in the 2011-2013 MBA-AB batch is way higher. Hope that clarifies

Sorry, I had overlooked your question on the previous instance.
IT Consulting positions were offered by companies like WIPRO, Infosys, TCS e-serve, Infosys BPO, Accenture etc.
Hi,
I dnt have a very gud Academic record
10th - 85
12th - 78
Btech - 59
wrk ex - 2yrs in banking.
Do I stand a fair chance to convert a call for MBA-IB ??
You're definitely eligible for SNAP and to be considered for admission to SIIB as you've got 50+ in B.Tech. And your 2 years of work experience in Banking is a value addition.
Final admission is based on a combination of factors - 10th&12th acads + UG acads + SNAP score + GD-PI performance + full time work ex.
As you can see, UG acads is a minor part. And this is something that you can't do much about. So, don't worry about that. Your school acads are very good and 2years in banking is a value addition making your profile strong.
Take advantage of that, prepare well for SNAP and work on developing your overall personality to enhance your performance in GD-PI.
As a matter of fact, there're students with UG acads between 50-60%
My best wishes for your preparation.
