Hi, I had initially got a mail with login credentials for IIM Ranchi PGDHRM GDPI and date was announced as 26th Feb 2012 in Mumbai. But now my name is not there in the list of 6000+ ppl called for it! Is this because I have calls from IIM C, L and I? Are the people called for this GDPI the ones without older IIM calls? Please advise. I had filled the online information form before 5th Feb as expected.

Buddy ,it's the other way around for me...Even i have calls from IIM L,I,C. and i have been called to attend only GD for PGDHRM 😲
GD(only GD) on 24thFeb @Blore
I recevied a mail from IIM Ranchi PGDHRM ..In that mail it is mentioned .. " Since you have a call from Six IIMs for PGDM Program, you need to appear only for the GD and your PI score will be taken from the PGDM interview."

PLs post ur gd pi experiences,,,

i had a GD only - on 16th feb..

topic- should u inform your boss when u r job hunting?

there were 10 people in the GD group.. as u can see.. d topic was pretty ''thought-evoking''.. there were agreements n disagreements. some brought in d loyalty factor.. some brought in d transparency factor.. howevr examples were missing.. fish market at times.. couple of people dint speak much.. panel asked dem to summarise in d end.. speaking of d panel.. der wer 3 of dem.. one was d dean of ranchi himself.. n der were 2 gals.. one ws a psychologist n d other one was a marketing ki bandi i guess.. ( d psychologist ws sitting right in front of me.. making life a li'l difficult at times).. but d overall experience ws fine.. no interview for me.. i took it for d 6 new iims together on 21st..
all d best to d rest of u..

My Experience

Date & Slot : 22nd Feb 9 AM
Location: Banglore
Work Ex: 53 Months
GD Topic : Is Our politiclal system reason for our backwardness?
No of candidates in your GD group : 9
GD Experience : Okay. Everyone spoke. Was little haphazard, but was not chaos.

Details about interview panel (if appeared for interview as well) : 3 Member - an executive fro B'lore itself, a lecturer from some college on marketing I think and Dean of this programme from IIMR

Questions asked in PI : About yourself - I blabbered
- Why HR? after so many year in technology, why a different job? Why HR only? What HR challenges you faced leading your team? About the problem faced related to HR in my current company- lot of grilling on this man.. I think I screwed up there.
- Why you spoke less in GD? - I thought I spoke reasonably well But I said I made my points and I am a listener. I make my opinion/views after logically analyzing others comment.
- Are you not ditching your company who sponsored for my masters degree in Comp Science & Technology? - I mentioned that during all this time, I have worked for the company and worked hard for which I have been rated well. And I do not have any legal obligation to continue. Career is my priority.

Interview Experience : I think could have been much better. Not so cool one as people say.
Any other details you want to mention : Well nothing specific. I think interview lasted for around 20 mins. And no chocolates!! :(

Advice to other candidates : Before PIs, ask yourself, why MBA/PGDM/PGDHRM

Verdict : Although, should be awaited, but I am not waiting.

Date & Slot : 22nd Feb, 9a.m.
Location: Monarch Luxur hotel, Bangalore
Work Ex: nil.
GD
Topic : Is our political system the reason for our backwardness?
No of candidates in your GD group : 9
GD Experience : It was good. everybody pitched in their points. Some were nervous and couldn't get into the discussion. Decent points were made, though.
In the end, some were asked to take a stand, and others to summarize- some of them mixed it up, though. (I was the only one not asked to say anything : wonder if i overspoke)

Details about interview panel (if appeared for interview as well) : Three people Two gentlemen, One lady. Very calm panel, exuded a positive atmosphere.
Questions asked in PI :
P1:introduce yourself.
me: narcissistic me was happy:D
P2: :what is your purpose in life. What do you want?
me: Anything I do sir, is ultimately in the pursuit of happiness.
P1: Happiness? that's all? you want to be happy?
me: yes ma'm, whatever I do, end of the day, I want happiness.
P2: How do you carry home your happiness everyday?
me: hmm, I don't need any specific reason to be happy, sir. I am generally happy. (what kind of n answer I gave!!)
P2: how would you ensure your employees are happy?
me: blabbered about giving all of them equal opportunity t grow, there is stress of competition at work, and ten people waiting for a person to fumble so that they can replace him, such....bla bla...
P1: so you think if they r given good work conditions they will be happy? and if they r happy they will work better?
me: i think adequate compensation and the atmosphere in which they don't feel threatened will result in better productivity atw ork.
P2: what are the qualities of a HR manager?
me: the usual bla bla.
P2: why do you want to come into HR? why not It, Finance?
me: bla bla bla...(about my part-time work-ex in teaching, counseling and article-writing)
P3: You have all this work-ex. why did you not mention in the form at all?
me: Sir, we were asked not to include part-time work-ex in the work-ex column.
P3: 'oh', (and he noted something down. He was the one checking the originals too.)
P1: so You write? Has your work been published?
me: website content, bla bla..
P2: what is the difference between pleasure and happiness?
me: Pleasure is one form of happiness; temporary and might fluctuate in intensity. (hehehe..i don't even know if this made/makes sense)
P3: what is the difference between vision and mission?
me: A vision is the first step which leads to a mission.
P1,P2,P3: all laugh (P1 says something like-you have a way with words...)
P2: elaborate
me: explained what i meant.
P3: so, making the world a better place is a vision or mission?
me: sir, making it a better place with the help of resources, tools and power is a mission, while having an idea to do something in the first place is a vision.
there was some question on emotional management and stuff.
P3: what is emotional intelligence?
me: the ability to gather what's in the mind of any person whilst he/she is masquerading outwardly...
P3: then what is emotional management?
me: the ability to rein in the intensity of emotions in order to make stable decisions which are unaffected by temporary emotional conditions.
P3: okay, you are right. But there is no term called emotional intelligence. hehe...(I defined that also! )
P3: two people in your office are fighting, physically abusing. what do you do? how do you tackle aggressive people?
me: i'll stop them and right then listen to their woes, letting all their aggressiveness out so that they reach stable emotional ground. I can negotiate later.
P3: hmm, you better call your security guard, or else they'll hit you if you go in between. (all laugh)
me: I cannot afford to go in between a brawl sir, as you said, I'll ask the security to stop them.

P1: She said something about the qualities they were looking for, and how they would hone me later on during the course, with the added clause that I get through :

P3: why is there so much attrition rate in the IT industry?
me: I thought attrition was job-cuts and started blabbering. Now the panel looked and said, what are you thinking attrition is? Then they explained it's about resignation.
P2: give an example from mythology which says something on the lines of "do not get extremely sad or extremely happy, extremely emotional at any point of time'.
me:  gave a slightly off-track example of Krishna telling Arjuna not to get emotionally clouded when He gets emotional seeing his kin on the other side of the battle-field.
They just nod.
P2: Your bachelors' degree (B.Pharmacy) was a choice or chance?
me: It was a choice I took by chance.
All laugh.
P2: what was the choice and the chance?
me: told.
All nod.
P1: I am done. P2: nods P3: Okay Pallavi, we are done. Thank you.

me: I pull the door, which gets pulled on the other side by the extra-helpful person on the other side.:

Interview Experience : One of the best I had, They were all cool and chilled out. No grilling (They seemed to have had a good time too ). It was all smiles, some laughs.

Any other details you want to mention : nothing much. The process takes around 3hours minimum. (I was last but one in the group)

Advice to other candidates : Be calm. The process is smooth. Have all your originals in place and expect the unexpected. I thought I could be grilled on my part-time work-ex/acads, why the switch, etc.

Verdict : Awaited. Not sure though-the ratio of calls to seats is so huge!! :wow:

gtmdewan Says
there r 40 seats

I think there are only 30 seats dude. Please check the facts.
