Hi,
This is too early to tell about the cut-off. It will be decided based on the CAT exam and its results. Last year cut-off was 85%ile.

Can anyone from the F.E. batch come forward please? I would like to discuss some points about the course on the PM.

It will be better if you can post your queries in the open forum itself. So that it will help others also.

Hi,
Im Naveen Bolisetti from PGDM-Financial Engineering.

This is a relatively new course, but IFMR already had the same course before, a 1 yr version of the same called PGPF and the alumni of that batch is spread across top notch organizations like Deutsche Bank, World Bank, ICICI...This course is probably the only one of its kind in India..

This course is tailor-made for those with strong quantitative and analytical ability, basically for those who are number crunchy and have a passion for math;)

There are 30 seats in all, but there is no such requirement that all the seats need to be filled...Selection would be purely based on merit..Infact, the last time only 11 were selected for the whole 30 seats..No waitlist too..

The present batch strength of PGDM-FE is 11...9 of the 11 have previous work ex ranging from 1yr to 5yrs..Though we are the first batch of PGDM-FE, 2 months into the course, we feel we have taken a very wise decision..

Any queries related to the course structure, its future prospects, placements, etc are invited...

@Naveen_bgv, please check your PM.

Yes, GMAT scores are accepted for FE, and
No, it's a 2 year course, not 1 year.

That course existed till last yr..this yr they have scrapped the 1 yr course and introduced FE...This is a 2 yr course and has AICTE accreditation...

All the 3 courses accept GMAT scores

The cut off for GMAT last year was 700

can u ppl tel bout PGDM-development n sustainabl finance....wats it al bout, scope n ofcours placements....???

PGDM - DSF is specially tailored for the development side..one shud be aware tht much of india's future growth is gonna be in the development sector..so this course ll help to be part of tht sector ...
1. taking this course will definitely limit the options when compared to gen finance as this is a specialised course. but u have a plethora of opportunities in the development sector as it is one of the well growing sector in recent yrs
2. being a development fin course u cannot expect urself to get placed in a normal profile or companies. the expected companies include, ICICI, IFMR trust, Development banks, Centres of IFMR, Infrastructure companies such as ILFS, HDFC and NGO's like Banyan etc. however this is the present situation... by the end of 2 yrs it might drastically change which am expecting as well
3. for the first 2 batches of DSF students the college has already entered into an agreement with ICICI for the absorption of entire students. the package will be no less than the general finance category students.
4. the first yr of the course will be general management along with normal PGDM guys. students who are admitted for DSF cannot switch to normal PGDM at any point of time
5. the content of the course mainly include developmental economics, developmental finance, infrastructure finance, NGO management and live projects.. the faculty of this course belong to Center for Development finance, Center for microfinance and other centers of excellence, guest faculties from NGO's and development banks etc.

If there are any further specific queries feel free to ask.

Both FE and DSF students will be absorbed by ICICI after successful completion of the course. But there is no agreement to recruit for 10L. that is just an estimate of probabale salary after 2 years based on past records of a similar course.
Will all students get the same package or not depends on the performance and previous work experience.
