work-ex this tym has been limited to 18 mths n above in a company with a certain specific annual turnover......

the process generally takes not more than 3 hrs.......tht 2 if u r amongst the last for the PI

the stucture is the following

1> Entry at the venue
2> U will be taken to the waiting area
3> A few minutes will be given to explain the process, give u ur gd n pi panel numbers n rooms. U can also take up some queries
4> This will be followed by the write-up
5> GD
6> Document verification
7> Interview

U r free 2 leave after tht, or u can stay back n interact with the students if u want to...
A few topics for GD

2. Economic Recession n how u thnk it can be corrected or wot caused it.
3. Sensex from 21206 in jan ' 08 to 7786 in end '08. (reasons, effects n remedies)
4. Mumbai Blasts n Terrorism in India (reasons, effects n remedies)
5. Satyam fiasco, its dealing with Maytas n fraud of Raju n PWC's involvement in the fraud.
6. Effect of media.
7. Personal life v/s Proffesional life.
8. BPO's n KPO's in India (effects, change in culture of India)

Some tips for GDs......

1> Don't be nervous, speak clearly and fluidly....make sure that every1 understands what u hav said....it is important to communicate, not only to speak
2> Don't engage in parallel conversations and don't target any1 person specifically, speak to the group........parallel conversations lead to fish markets, which r gud for no one
3> Don't let your pride or ego come between.....arguing for arguments sake is never good, try n come up with valid points
4> Don't shift from the topic, if u find that the group has moved, don't hesitate to point that out and bring the focus back to the topic...
5> LISTEN to what others have to say, when u listen, u end up thinking....n this gives u better points to add...
6> Try and add newer dimensions and perspective to the discussion
7> The moderators r there 2 rate u......its not a gud practice to luk at them.....if however they talk to u, listen to them.....n listen to the instructions at the begining of the gd
8> Be confident, maintain eye contact and a good attentive posture.......lukin at the ceiling or the walls or ur notes, very often is not a gud policy......
9> When u r speaking, speak with authority, but not overconfidence......
9> If u r given time at the begining to think about the topic, jot down some points.....
10> It is advantageous to start the gd, cos it gives u the oportunity to take the gd in the direction u want to....but do not butt in, if a person has already stared speaking first....listen a bit n then put forth ur point.....either adding or contradicting according to wht u think....
11> Be forthright in your views, but do not take a very strong position in one particular direction, and try and luk at all possible angles to the discussion as a manager u r required to evaluate any situation frm all possible directions.....but do not flip-flop to much.....as tht also creates a negative perception....

i would suggest all the aspirants to be prepared for open ended topics.....what happens in such situations is tht the participants tend to forget the crux of the matter and digress from the topic, especially in bimtech gds where every1 has ample time to speak......in such situations it is important to make sure that u stay on the topic, n try n make a logical conclusion out of whtever it is tht u r discussing........
For PI

you could brush up a bit on ur past acedemics, nuthin rigorous......just the basics

Apart frm tht, a thorough gd prep, also helps u to tackle questions on current affairs, n u can comment on them easily......
U can prepare some answers that r standard for all interviews, although it seems lyk a very deperate strategy....but it helps.....u don't hav to memorize these answers but preparing a bit on them, helps u get a hang of wht to say and how to say it......and u don't luk lyk u r unprepared for what is probably a life changing scenario (what PG course isn't)....

1> tell us something about youself
2> Why do you want to do an MBA
3> Why hav you applied for BIMTECH
4> Why should we take you

Depending on your profile u could also be asked about the following

- Work-ex (job responsibilities, challenges faced, how u overcame them)
- Engineers(final yr projects)
- Commerce/Eco (ur understanding of the current market scenario- putting theory into practice)
- Year drop/Bad acads or a departure from usually gud performance (u'll hav to justify it...n explain it away)
- Extra/Co-curricualars at the national/international level (competition details n other such stuff)

the other details about the posture and stuff tht i mentioned on the GD tips r valid for the PI as well.....

hi...
thanks 4 gd topics nd pi preparation tips.
hope to see more here..
as i m in final year did i need to read my 1st nd 2nd yr books?
i mean it may b vry time consuming.
is it necessary dat dey'll grill on acads in pi?
actualy m a fresher so didn't knew much abt it.
tks..

its not necessary tht they'll grill on acads....but since there is very little else to ask of freshers so it is expected tht most questions will come from the acads......hence it is better to hav the basics on ur mind......u don't need to go thru ur books, jus know wht u r talkin abt......

confidence is key......as long as its not overconfidence
