RRB JE Syllabus 2019 for CBT 1 & 2

RRB (Railway Recruitment Board) will be conducting the RRB JE exam-the 1st stage Computer Based Test in April/May 2019. The exam is conducted to select the candidates for the posts of Junior Engineer (JE), Junior Engineer IT (JE IT), Depot Material Superintendent (DMS), and Chemical and Metallurgical Assistant (CMA) in Indian Railways.

The RRB JE exam is conducted in stages and will consist of multiple choice questions. The computer- based test in the 1st stage will have 100 questions and the 2nd stage will have 150 questions. There will be 1/3rd negative marking for each wrong answer in both the stages.

The following are the syllabus for the RRB JE exam:

There are 5 main topics to be followed for the examination of RRB JE.

  1. General intelligence and reasoning
  2. General awareness
  3. Reasoning
  4. Technical ability and
  5. General science

 similarities and differences, analogies, spatial visualization, spatial orientation, problem solving, analysis, judgement, decision making, visual memory, discrimination, observation, relationship ,concepts, arithmetic reasoning, verbal and figure classification, arithmetical number series, coding and decoding, statement, conclusions, syllogistic reasoning, non-verbal series.

Arithmetic

Simple and compound interest, Algebra, instalments, taxation, factors and simplification, shares and dividends, polynomials, ratio and proportion, percentage, time, distance and work, profit and loss, pipes and cisterns, mensuration, problems on ages, data interpretation, use of tables and graphs, investments, pie chart, histogram, bar diagram etc.,

General awareness

History, Geography, Polity, Economy, National, and international events, Banking, Sports, budget, abbreviations, authors, awards, reforms and new technologies in Indian railway.

General science

Concepts of science(class 10th and 12th)

The Technical ability

a).Electrical engineering: Electrical machines, basics of circuit and power electronics, Electrical and electronic measurements, Analog and Digital Electronics, Circuits and Measurements system, Signals and systems, Electrical Machines, Power and Control systems, etc.

b). Electronics Engineering: Electronic devices, Energy bands, signals and system, Wireless communication, carrier Transport in silicon: diffusion current, drift current, mobility and resistivity, generation and recombination of carriers, junctions, diodes, tunnel, communication, EMFT, Basics of signals and system, Control system.

c). Computer Engineering: Computer  Fundamentals, MS office, Languages, Information systems, DBMS, Operating system, Software engineering, Computer Networks, Database, Algorithms, network communication, system programming, Web technology, and programming.

d). Information Technology: MS Office, C, C++, Java language, Computer fundamentals and organization, Information systems, DBMS, System programming, Operating system, UNIX, SAD, Data and Network communication, Web technology and programming, Software engineering, Environment, and pollution control.

e). Instrumentation and Measurements: Basics of Measurements systems, Transducers, Circuits, Mechanical measurements, Industrial measurements, Analog and Digital electronics, Process Instrumentation.

f). Civil Engineering: General civil engineering, Construction and structure and drawing, Estimating, costing, valuation, building materials, mechanics, soil mechanics, structural analysis, concrete structures, steel structures, hydraulics, hydrology, construction, highway planning, water requirement, traffic engineering, surveying, coordinate systems, projections, errors and adjustments, curves, environmental engineering, distances, and directions.

f).Mechanical engineering: The strength of materials, Theory of machines, kinematics of machines, engineering mechanics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, thermodynamics, power engineering, steam tables, thermodynamic cycle, I.C. engine cycles, casting, machining, and machine tool operations, Metrology and inspection.
