Re: Chicago GSB Fall 2008 Interviews & Admits -

While waiting for the final call from Chicago, I thought I would share my interview experience. I have to admit I was prompted by mohinder's post as my interview experience was pretty much the same as his.
I was interviewed by an alumni who was looking reeeeaaalllllyyy tired... from what I gathered from the other guys, the alumni had interviewed around 30-40 candidates that day and since i could not spot more than 2-3 alumni on the venue I guess taking BS from 8-10 guys for 8 hours straight would wear out anyone...
My first impression of the guy was that he was very gentle (as south indians mostly are) and very quant-type (just an impression)... he welcomed me inside and I took the nearest chair when offered.. he himself took a half-sitting pose on a desk...he first gave me his card and then asked me for my resume which I handed over.. he flipped through the pages very casually and I thought he didn't read any word apart from the headings !! He then kept the resume aside and asked me very matter-of-factly... "So, u want to tell me about why MBA, and why from Chicago ?"... the very tone of the question was as-if both of us were there to go through a ritual, a mandatory ceremony... anyways, I suppressed these voices in my head and started off... and did not stop until after 10 (maybe 15) minutes.... I almost regurgiated my first essay in its entirety... from his looks I thought he might not have gathered more than 10% of whatever I said... importantly though, he caught upon my goal and asked me to elaborate further on it.... I did. But fortunately (or unfortunately) he was a practitioner in the same field and so appeared skeptical. He questioned my choice of GSB as the road to my goal... and though I tried hard to convince him, it felt as if he was convinced that I should not be trying for an MBA but rather an MS in Finance or something... baah !! I though... couldn't do much there except try hard to be polite in accepting his point-of-view while also pushing my own logic...
and so it went on for another 10 minutes...
then he asked me if I had any questions... and I asked him about a club and some other stuff about GSB and Chicago.. he answered but sounded very disinterested... which was surprising cause I got the feeling he was not only not interested in me but also not interested in Chicago and GSB itself....
anyways, finally we said goodbye
I later also wrote an email to him thanking him for his time and explaining my position yet again.. he replied saying that he hoped "he had not sounded very negative" and that admission process involves many things otehr than the interview...
so all said and done, I think the interview definitely did not improve my chances of getting in... but what I am reeeaallllyyy worried about is that it may not have spoiled my chances...
friends tell me interview is a make or break thing... what do u guys think ?
anyways, not much can be done now.... 7 hours and I would know for myself...

@Kunal
Hard luck, dude....not heard of a single Indian admit as yet What other schools are you applying to?
@all
Anybody who can help with the Chicago wait list? It would help if anybody could connect me with somebody who navigated the wait list successfully. I know of deba_s56. But I do not have his email.
