@rebornNINJA : It wont be of much use if you do MBA, but can be useful in MS in Finance or Actuarial Sciences.But to be honest, No Knowledge is Useless.

@TONYMBA thanks
@anand5787 : I am also sailing in almost the same boat as u..I also have engineering background,and going to opt for finance in second year...If u are looking to go for CFA/FRM think of them as an investment for understanding the intricacies of financial world..IF u r looking at these courses just as an addon to ur CV;i dont think they will help much in that regard...:)

P.S - Just Want to remind you that last deadline to register for June L1 exam is 13th march.So decide fast
Hi Guys, just want to ask to those puys who are already working in an IT industry after an MBA, please tell me is their any risk management kind of profile offered in IT Industry?I am planning to give CFA or FRM in December and i want to work in IT companies only because of prior work experience. Will it be beneficial if i go for FRM?
@anand5787 : I am still an aspirant, but I do know quite a lot of non-IT of IT. You don't get the usual FRM/ Risk Management kind of role that you get at AMCs or in Investment Banking. But, yes, you do have hedging, currency risks and asset management even in IT. Much of it is outsourced to Banks or AMCs. But most companies do retain a portion of RM internally, usually in big ones like TCS, Infy, etc. I am not sure about CFA/FRM part though. I doubt it will be that useful in an IT context as RM required in IT is very minimal, compared to other sectors.

Hi Puys,

Can some one here tell me what jobs does the financial engineering leads into??
also, how is it way different from normal finance??
Thanks in advance.
@binaravind hi

from where r u pursuing financial engg ??

As harsh sir ( @harry4u9 ) rightly pointed out that many people would switch from engineering to finance in search of cool and easy life. Sadly for me too its the same. But what to do? Engineering job is so uncool! Doing hard manual labor s**ks a lot, I can do 12-14 hrs of cubicle work but doing a 12-14hrs work in field work is really detestable.
I am looking for some career advice.
Both Long term and short term goal is to get some cool cubicle job like finance. Profile is btech IIT- ECE, 3yr work ex in industrial sector . I don't want to do mba operations (coz again field work), not marketing (selling things or business is not my forte) , not hr...
So basically from the superficial but true logics above I've decided to go for MBA finance.
I have been given 5 options for specialization - capital market, corporate finance, risk management, accounting and taxation, and development finance. (the third one comes with some scholarship)
Which one should I choose?
.

@anmol29 I m not yet pursuing, but looking for some clarification and help.
