Hello Everybody..!! I m currently pursuing my MBA, Finance frm Sinhgad Institute affilated to Pune University. I hav completed my graduation in Engg (E&TC;). What type of job should I look for in Finance sector. I m gud at number crunching and intrested in mathematics.
@C_Kant >> Risk MAnagement is the area which you will love to go for . Go for FRM or PRM.
Another area which u may like >> CREDIT RATING / RATING ANALYST / DERIVATIVE ANALYST etc .. etc ..
if u like number crunching in particular >> EQUITY RESEARCH / TECHNICAL ANALYSIS ..etc
any job after CFA L1 in India
Thankx @anmol29... Can U plz elaborate on Equity research and Technical analysis..??
@C_Kant Equity Research - An area wherein , an in-depth analysis of stock , particular sector is done. Based on the research done , finally a BUY / SELL recommendation is made .
various firms - CLSA , NOMURA , GOLDMANN SACHS , JP MORGAN , CREDIT SUISSE , etc . Basically all investment banking firms are also the equity research firms. U get the role of an analyst ... in the future u may proceed as - analyst >> ASSOCIATE ANALYST >> SENIOR ANALYST >> PARTULAR SECTOR ANALYST >> RESEARCH HEAD . Besides these firms equity research is also performed by various other financial services firms such as mutual fund houses . A mutual fund is assigned a particular FUND MANAGER by the respective ASSET MANAGEMENT COMPANY (AMC) . Hence , in order to make the fund best performing , the fund manager has to do equity research . So , mutual funds & brokerages are some other specific areas of equity research.
now , talking about technical analysis , IT IS THE STUDY OF PAST HISTORICAL STOCK PRICES AND THE PRACTICE OF MAKING BUYS / SELL RECOMMENDATIONS ON THE BASIS OF TTECNICAL CHARTS , VARIOUS TECHNICAL INDIACTORS , TOOLS , SOFTWARES & SOME PRE-DEFINED PRICE MOVEMENT PATTERNS . In simple words , TEHNICAL ANALYSIS IS SOMETHING WHICH ESSENTIALLY IS A PART OF EQUITY RESEARCH . So , in a way if you are not interesyed in a job , say which involves the fundamental based research of a company , u can go for positions which solely involve making the recommendation calls based on technical analysis
hope its clear to u ..
feel free for further query

Hello Everyone
Forget CFA etc unless you are in a job that needs it.
Get the CQF (Certificate in Quantitative Finance) if you can't do an MBA/CA.
And Why Finance? It pays well and makes me a chick magnet.
Hi
BE: 87.86%
Have decent Extra curricula.
I am an Computer Science Engineer and just completing 4 months in IT industry.
Since then, I have done some research on my own and also invested some part of the amount I got from scholarships. I invested some amount in FD, some in Mutual funds and bought share of Reliance Industries through my dad창€™s demat account. But the company made losses and so did I. Then learning from my mistakes, under the guidance of my brother I invested in profit making shares. The investments, analysis, equity started interesting me. I have realized that starting out in finance would be the best fit for me. In the long-term I want to be an investor or trusted advisor to companies, and I see banking as the ideal path to getting there.
