I did not find any other thread for this year's applicants to the Illinois MBA program. So I started this thread for all those who have applied/planning to apply to the MBA program.

Here's an overview of the deadlines:


  1. First Round - Early admission consideration

November 15, 2011

  1. Second Round - For domestic applicants and final deadline for anyone needing an I-20

January 15, 2012

  1. Third Round - For domestic applicants and anyone not needing an I-20:

March 1, 2012

  1. Final Round - For domestic applicants and anyone not needing an I-20:

April 1, 2012

Apart from the usual scholarship offerings, Illinois MBA program conducts a case competition for applicants. The wiinners -1st, 2nd and 3rd places will receive prizes worth Full tuition waiver, One Year Tuition waiver and $10,000 respectively.

I submitted my application on Nov 14th and received an interview invite today.

Even I have submitted my application on 14th of Nov but as of now I haven't heard anything. All the best for your interview

Hope you receive your invite soon. I have heard that interview invitations will keep rolling in until a week or two before the decision notification dates.

Did Illinois mention any notification date in der website ? I haven't noticed any. And if you dont mind could you share your profile

Yes I am from Hyderabad.
Its mentioned on the website that the decisions will be notified in 4-6 weeks from the time the application is received. Based on that, if you take out the week of Christmas and New Year, applications submitted for Round 1 should be notified by the 1st or 2nd week of Jan.

I didnt get an interview call rather I was invited for a chat with a second year student on Dec 13. Probably based on this conversation they will evaluate my application...

I had my interview this week with the admissions team. It lasted for about 35 min.
The interviewer asked me the usual questions - Why MBA, my goals, my professional experiences. At the end, I asked few questions about the program and the university. Before signing off, he mentioned that the school would convey its decision on my application either by this Saturday or in January.

Did anyone else receive interview notifications/were interviewed? How was your experience?

Hi nmmbaabroad in the illinois site it was mentioned that the interview will also have a case study... Were you asked any case question? What was it?.. I am scheduled for an interview on January 4... How many people were in the panel?

I got a reject yesterday. Very disappointed as i was hoping to convert this one..
I had one informal audio skype session 2 weeks ago with 2 questions about why mba and why illinois. She said the team would get back in 3-4 weeks.

Yes, as mentioned in one of the information sessions, there was a case question that i had to answer. It was related to business strategy. One of the members of the adcom interviewed me. All the best for your interview!

I received an acceptance e-mail from the admissions team today. :biggrin:
As I continued reading the e-mail, I came to know that I was awarded scholarship.

After waiting through last week, I was not expecting any update from the school until the first week of Jan. Very happy and excited!!
