New topic :- True discount :- and Installment
This topic may give you 2 marks easily if occurs in the exam , so , now , very less chances it may occur in the exam(pre) but in mains , either one question from installment or true discount :-
True discount => discount given at borrowing time ...........
important formula you will have to remember :-
As we calculate the simple interest :- SI= P*R*T/100 .... same here ,
TD = (P-TD) * R*T/100
only the above basic formula you will have to remember , nothing else
now , We proceed to the next topic Installment on CI or SI .........
In this topic , you needn't to go into deep because only a formula based question will be asked through this topic :- I learnt only two basic formulas for this. last year , In mains , one question was asked and it was only formula based (CI calculation based) ..........
SI based :-
total debt = number of installment * value of each installment + (1+2+3+... (total number of installments -1) )*Rate*value of each installment /100 ...(in years)
let , the total debt is Y rs and we will have to clear the debt in N installments monthly with rate R . let value of each installment x .
Y= N*x + (1+2+3....N-1)*R*x/1200 because monthly ..
Y= N*x+ (N-1)*N*R*x/1200
if the amount borrowed and interest is calculated then , let the amount borrowed Y
Y+ Y*R*N/1200 ( monthly) = N*x+(N-1)*N*R*x/1200
Now in case of CI
Let , value of each installment is x , N installments yearly ( here monthly case is complex and such questions are not asked in the exam , however , interest rate may be compounded half-yearly or quarterly) ... Rate is R . Debt is Y .
let T = (1+R/100) ...
so , x= Y/(1/T+1/T^2+....1/T^N)
PS:- remember only bold written formulas ............. you will surely not skip any installment , true discount related questions ..... however , try to practice some questions ... all d best :)
