The invention of the world wide web took the world by a wave. It played a remarkable role in bringing the world together. Rightly quoted by Bill Gates, " the internet has become the town square of the global village". The immense uses and utilities it provides is undeniable but, it also has its malevolence spread across the world.
The technology is getting better by day. The initiatives being taken by the internet giants to make internet available to the remote pockets of the world is commendable. Providing easy access to the people has attracted different sections of the society in ways apart. While the good section is drawing its uses, the bad section of the society have been equally utilising internet's loop holes.
Starting from the endless friendlists on the social media to the dark web, everything is hampering the daily lives of people across the globe. The leak of sensitive information regarding individuals, hacking and purloining the assets of the victims has become a common sight these days. Although there exists strict measures against piracy, bootlegging is widely prevailing in the internet. The major issue concerning the misuse of the internet is the promotion of the dark web, pornography and influencing the youth towards terrorism. Various studies show that terrorism provoking content on the internet sadly, have brought a significant number of youth into terrorism.
Turning the internet from a friend to foe should be stopped immediately. Banning the spread of malicious content is the remedy of the hour. Everyone should be morally responsible in using the Internet and technology to make the world a better place and not otherwise.
