GOODS AND SERVICES TAX
The goods and services tax is a proposed new taxation system which will be applicable when consumer uses goods and services in our country. GST bill was passed as 122nd Amendment bill and 101st Constitution Amendment Act. The chairperson of GST council is Finance Minister, Arun Jaitley.
GST will subsume central taxes like Excise duty, additional Customs duty, additional surcharges,Service tax and state taxes like VAT,Entry tax, Entertainment tax, Tax on gambling etc. GST council fixed the tax slabs as 0,5,12,18,28 in which food grains will be imposed 0 percent tax, essential goods will have 5% tax and luxury and demerit goods will have 28% tax plus cess. Union government planned to implement GST from 1st July 2017.
The benefits of GST include avoiding multiplicity of taxes, cascading effect of tax, complex tax structure and Tax arbitrage. So the ultimate benificiary of GST will be common people as tax on essential goods will come down. As uniform tax is imposed all over the country, there will not be tax evasion or tax leakage. As all the tax procedures are made online, traders can easily track and pay promptly as there will single taxation all over the country.
As all the state taxes are subsumed to GST, Central government promised to compensate the loss incurred from the date of implementation to 5 years for state govenment. Even though GST appears to be single taxation window, CGST,SGST,IGST are the real forms of GST. As consumer is the ultimate king, GST will reduce the burden of the people and give benefit after implementation.

"यत्र नार्यस्तु पूज्यंते, .रमन्ते तत्र देवता" अर्थात, जहाँ नारियों की पूजा होती है, वहाँ देवता निवास करते हैं| परंतु इस प्रकार की सामाजिक सोच रखने वाले हमारे देश मे भी, कुछ सामाजिक कुरीतियों और रूढ़िवादिता के कारण हमारे देश मे लिंगानुपात काफ़ी विषम हो गया है| इन्ही समस्याओं से निपटने के लिए २२ जनवरी, २०१५ को प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने पानीपत से "बेटी बचाओ, बेटी पढ़ाओ" नामक योजना की शुरुआत की| यह योजना महिला एवं बाल विकास, स्वास्थ्य एवं परिवार कल्याण और मानव संसाधन विकास मंत्रालयों की साझी पहल है|
इस योजना के अंतर्गत सर्वप्रथम देश के १०० ऐसे जिले चिन्हित किए जाएँगे, जिनमे लिंगानुपात निम्नतम है| फिर उन जिलों मे जन-जागरण के माध्यम से भ्रूण हत्या की रोकथाम और कन्या सुरक्षा तथा सुशिक्षा के मार्ग तय किए जाएँगे| वर्तमान मे चिन्हित १०० जिलों मे १२ हरियाणा से हैं, जो एक आर्थिक रूप से संपन्न प्रदेश है, परंतु रूढ़िवादी मानसिकता के कारण लिंगानुपात देश मे निम्नतम, 877 है| यद्यपि केरल जैसे राज्यों मे लिंगानुपात १००० से अधिक है परंतु ज़्यादातर राज्यों मे यह १००० से नीचे ही है| वर्ष २००१ की जनगणना मे संपूर्ण राष्ट्र का लिंगानुपात ९३३ था जो कि अब २०११ की जनगणना मे ९४० है|
हालाँकि २००१ की जनगणना के बाद स्थिति मे सुधार हुआ है, परन्तु अभी हमने उतना नही पाया जितना खोया था| उदाहरणार्थ १९५०-५१ की जनगणना मे लिंगानुपात ९४६ था, जो वर्तमान से अधिक है| मानसिक कुंठा और रूढ़िवादिता ने लिंगानुपात को प्रभावित किया है, लेकिन अब आवश्यकता है, कि हम स्वयं को मानसिक रूप से उदार बनाएँ, और सरकार द्वारा की गयी इस रचनात्मक पहल मे यथासंभव सहयोग करें| समान लिंगानुपात और नारियों की उचित भागीदारी से ही एक सशक्त और विकसित राष्ट्र का निमाण संभव है |
