Universal Basic Income - 275 words.
Even after three decades of sustained economic growth and a proliferation of welfare schemes, roughly one in three Indians still live below the poverty line.The idea of Universal Basic Income(UBI) is to guarantee the citizens a minimum level of income support as an entitlement and not as a compensation for work.The main features of UBI are that it is unconditional, universal and not targeted and cash transfer in lieu of in-kind transfer (like mid-day meal schemes).
In India, a pilot based implementation in a few villages in MadhyaPradesh showed that people shifted from wage labour to self-employed farming and business activity.Besides, it will make the benefits of the reform clearer to the poor, reduce the burden on the bureaucracy to identify the beneficiaries of any targetted programme.Also, people can spend the cash as they want.
However, UBI provision would entail a cost of 11% of GDP, which is way above 4.2% of GDP the government spends on subsidies.It would also reduce the motivation to work and encourage to live off assured cash transfers which will also raise wages due to decline in supply of casual labour.Also, there is a doubt whether it would complement the existing subsidies or substitute them.Other challenges include reduction in food grain production in absence of incentives, necessities like health and education cannot be met simply by transferring the money and coordination between centre and state to phase out tax exemptions.
UBI itself is not sufficient for the upliftment of poor.But, UBI coupled with economic reforms to allow poor to gain better education and health, removing barriers to job creation will help them to step out of the "low-reform, low-income trap".

Can someone please tell me about the exact official rules about standing up when the National Anthem is being sung?
If that 1 : 4.5 ratio is true .. then 9k vacancies as of now .... AAO list 4.7k (1005 vacancies as already updated in ( SSC.NIC.IN ) ... stat inv 1200 (196 vac updated ) .... list4 35.1 k / 4.5 = 7.8k vac approx .. total 1k+ 0.2K + 7.8K -- 9k vac as of yet based on 1 : 4.5 ... SSC sent a final letter to user dept for collecting vac ( tube ) .. by mar 14 ssc will update final vac ( qmaths ) .. so 9.5k vac seems possible now :)
while writing essays , on changing paragraphs if last word ends in 1st or 2nd column of the row. then we are forced to leave 5-6 blocks on every para change. if there are 3 to 4 para changes then it translates to 15-24 additional boxes.. we'll be provided with 325 boxes for essay. if our essay is around 265-270 adding 15-24 vacant boxes takes it to..280-294 .... is it ok ? or only boxes filled would be considered for actual length of the essay. or do you think examiner will hardly notice this considering heavy burden of copies he has to check..

Hi everyone. Need your valuable inputs here.
For all the essays related to government schemes/development (around 12-15 in number) i am following a standard pattern as given below.
1. Introduction- about the scheme,ministry & its objective/aim. 50 words.
2. Body- Information about implementation,benefits of scheme. 80-100 words.
3. Body- Challenges/shortcomings/disadvantages. 70-80 words.
4. Conclusion- On an optimistic note. 40-50 words.
Is this framework fine or do i need to make some changes to it? If changes are needed what they should be?
Can i write point wise in the body of an essay? please give your opinion. thanks in advance.
