TOPIC- CURRENT DEVELOPMENT SCENARIO IN INDIA

The basic idea of development in any democracy is the overall upliftment of its citizens .For an effective development , government institutions and bureaucracy plays a key role in any nation.
India since economic reforms of 1991 have gone many structural changes. Its has traveled many miles to land up in the 21st century which has full lot of challenges and opportunities too. We have become more open economy and in fact one of the few economies of world with such open structure. While this will help our country with more investment and hence increase in GDP , we also need to keep in mind our domestic workers. We are in phase of transition and this balancing act is necessary.
Many initiatives have been taken with reference to curbing corruption like DBT(Direct benefit transfer) , in field of financial inclusion (Jan dhan yojna) etc..They have been huge success in their respective fields. I think for an effective delivery of any policy we need to make our citizens empowered rather than entitled. In this regard education plays a key role. Many steps have been taken to strengthen the education system our country. Government is in process of paraphrasing new National Education policy (NEP , 2016) which can prove to be a game changer. There is lot of scope in this field and we need to work more on the improvement of quality of primary education . I think more autonomous system of education can help in this regard .
We have gathered a steady momentum on path of development and there is need of dissecting the coming bottlenecks in our path. I think we can improve our efficiency by bringing the concept of post delivery policy analysis. It will not only help us understand the trend of, on what aspects we are lacking but will also give us an idea on what majority of people actually want in terms of benefits. For example in an recent survey by a NGO it was found that MNREGA is highly successful in state like Jharkhand while it lags behind in state like chattisgarh etc.. By this system we can analyse the possible reasons/structure which resulted in its success in Jharkhand and can possibly implement the same in Chattisgarh in next phase. In this regard we can make use of Data analytics and concept of big data, widely prevalent in many of developed nations in governments policy making. We are in right path and soon we will see ourselves residing in category of developed nations from developing.
