Dear Sir
Sub: “POSTPONEMENT OF COMBINED GRADUATE LEVEL -2016 TIER II EXAM SCHEDULED FROM 30TH NOVEMBER 2016 ONWARDS-REGARDING”
It is respectfully brought to your kind and urgent attention that old currency notes of Rs. 500/- and Rs. 1000/- have been demonetized with effect from 08.11.2016 by the Government and The Combined Graduate Level 2016 Tier II Exam has been scheduled to be held from 30TH November 2016 onwards. In this regard I would like to bring the following points to your notice:
1) That due to the above order it has become extremely difficult to fulfill one’s daily needs as there is a shortage of supply of the valid currency and the Govt. has also put a restriction of currency exchange to only Rs. 4,000/- per day and a daily withdrawal limit of Rs. 10,000/- is permitted from the Bank.
2) That there is a heavy and justified rush in Banks with people lining in front of Banks since early morning in order to either withdraw currency or to get their old currency notes of Rs. 500/- and Rs. 1000/- exchanged with an average of about 6-7 hrs being spent standing in the line to the Bank or inside the Bank. There are news of many people even dying due to the exertion faced in the money exchange process both outside and inside the Banks.
3) This shortage of money supply and demonetization has resulted in a grave situation in almost all spheres of life making normal life to come to an almost standstill.
4) It is also been mentioned again and again by our Honorable Prime Minister that the situation is tough and will be tough till Dec 2016. The Honorable Prime Minister has sought cooperation for 50 days from the people of the country to deal with the situation.
5) Media is afloat with the difficulties being faced by the general public. It is almost like a Financial Emergency as some leaders of national political parties are putting it.
6) You will appreciate that the Combined Graduate Level Examination is a very prestigious and popular Examination with the middle and lower classes of our country which are now spending a lot of time in exchanging the currency notes on day to day basis. It will make appearing in the examination very difficult with full preparation because:
(a) Result of the Tier-I of Combined Graduate Level Exam-2016 was declared very late (08th Nov 2016) due to re-examination on 27th October 2016 giving students even less than a month to prepare for the mains Exam from 30th November 2016 onwards. The same (08th Nov 2016) was the date when the announcement of demonetization came from the Honorable Prime Minister.
(b) It will be very difficult for the candidates to make their logistic and travel arrangements in time due to the currency crunch; major inconveniences can be seen at almost all the public places like bus stations, railway stations, airports, hospitals etc. and above all,
(c) It would be extremely difficult right now for the candidates from far off places to appear in the said examination as they have to make their travel, food, boarding and lodging arrangements due to the financial constraints.
In view of the above, it is humbly requested that in the interest of justice and in order to give the qualified candidates a fair and reasonable chance to appear in this competitive examination, the Tier-II of Combined Graduate Level Exam-2016 may kindly be postponed.
