The Regional Director (NR) Staff Selection Commission   Block No. 12, 5th Floor, CGO Complex, Lodhi Road, New Delhi

Dear Sir   Sub: “URGENT ACTION REQUIRED REGARDING CGL-2016 TIER II EXAM SCHEDULED FROM 30TH   NOVEMBER 2016 ONWARDS”

This is to bring to you kind urgent attention that currency notes of Rs. 500/- and Rs. 1000/- have been declared as not a legal tender regarding which we would like to bring the following points to your notice:

1) That due to the above order it has become extremely difficult to fulfill one’s daily needs as there is a shortage of supply of currency of Rs. 10, Rs. 50/- and Rs. 100/- denomination and the Govt. has also put a restriction of currency exchange to only Rs. 4,000/- per day and a daily withdrawl limit of Rs. 10,000/- is permitted from the Bank.

2) That due to the above there is a heavy and justified rush in Banks with people lining in front of Banks since early morning in order to either withdraw currency or to get their old currency exchanged with an average of about 6-7 hrs being spent either standing in the line to the Bank or inside the Bank.

3) This shortage of money supply and demonetisation has resulted in a grave situation in almost all spheres of life making normal life to come to an almost standstill. Important fields which are directly affected by this are Trading, Food supply, Hospitalisation, Transportation etc. making people absolutely helpless.

4) The same has also been mentioned again and again by our Honorable Prime Minister that the situation is tough and will be tough till Dec 2016 before it normalizes and the same can be compared to a Financial Emergency.

5) You will also appreciate that the result of the Tier-I of Combined Graduate Level Exam-2016 was declared very late (08th Nov 2016) due to re-exam on 27th October 2016 giving students even less than a month to prepare for the mains Exam from 30h November 2016 onwards or even to make their logistic and travel arrangements. Further it would not be easy for the candidates to appear in the Tier-II of Combined Graduate Level Examination-2016 due to the above mentioned financial emergency as they have to make their travel, food and study arrangements which is extremely difficult right now due to the financial constraints being faced by the rich and the poor students alike. Also this is a highly popular exam in the student community and they have high hopes from it.

In view of the above mentioned points it is humbly requested that in the interest of the candidates and in order to conduct the Tier-II of Combined Graduate Level Examination-2016 in a fair & convenient manner and to give the qualified candidates a fair chance to appear in the said examination the Tier-II of Combined Graduate Level Exam-2016 may kindly be postponed.

Regards   Cc: DOPT (Department of Personnel and Training)
