I think all symbi selection processes are just a farce. The GDPI held at all symbi institutes are nothing more than an eyewash. Almost everyone who appeared for the GDPI at SITM had a more or less similar experience to yours. I feel symbi is just a money making racket. They keep these selection rounds only to extract money from students via application fees. I feel they have already made their choices long before and are most likely to select candidates based on profiles.
By the way one of their institutes, SIMC has cancelled a specialization from their curriculum coz there were no takers. I think the quality of all symbi institutes except for scmhrd, siib and sibm is mediocre. Just check the syllabus for finance and marketing under SITM. It's pathetic. It seems they were in a hurry when deciding on it. My advise to u is that if u already are in a good and high paying job with a reputed company then it's not worth the time and money spent on institutes like SITM. Might as well work in the same organization for 2 more years and get an increment and a chance for a promotion.
So again we have somebody on SITM forums to play Devil's Advocate!!
Actually Mr. Crawww, the argument u just put seems so pointless!! I mean, which college doesnt charge for application fee. Do u expect any insti to give away their application forms and brochure for free by the roadside??:splat: And how can ur performance of GD relative to this fact?? First of all u apply for a B School and then forget to prepare for it. Then how do you expect to put many points during the GD!!!
Also, now u were criticising about all Symbis, now suddenly u got enlightened that instis like SIBM and SCMHRD pay u fat packages and u start praising them. Sorry to say but that was a bit contradictory for ur own words!!! SIMC is a different college....u have any grievance go to the SIMC forum. And well people here in SITM already used to have very huge packages, but due to their sheer love for telecom they came here!!! Personally speaking, even my package increased two folds after my previous job, from SITM. And talking about promotions in ur job....dude grow up...the MBA guys get appraisal faster than simple grads!!
So now as u have realised that u won't be able to crack it or as a matter of fact, u won't be able to get to even SIBM or SCMHRD, u have turned a critic.....nice going dude.

Well if what u r saying is true then it's good. But the impression I got from the way the snap test was conducted (which was so easy this year), the nonchalant attitude of the moderators during the GDPI rounds was that symbi was conducting these rounds just to complete a formality and was not at all serious about selecting a candidate. I feel these GDPI rounds were just conducted so that ppl don't desist from taking admission next year if they knew that selections were made only on the basis of the profiles.

My Dear Friend
What's the harm in having the SNAP test easy:wow:!!! B Schools do modulate the difficulty levels every year and its great that the difficulty level is not like that of IIT JEE. Also as the SNAP test was easy, the cut offs shot up, providing the perfect balance. And if the SNAP test was sooo easy, then why didn't every1 clear the cut off of SIBM P
. See these gimmicks u guys do, never taints the brand and prestige of Symbi, and every year the no of applicants will increase.:splat:And if u r so sure that only profile based calls are given, then u also must b sure that no fresher will be taken in Symbi this year. But its not gonna be the case!! At the end of the day no profile but ur past records and performance matters. Which college doesn't want to take candidates who have proved their mettle in their past.

"the nonchalant attitude of the moderators during the GDPI"...dude, I completely disagree with u on this...the ones who moderated our GD/extempore were excellent and conducted it in the most professional manner possible. In fact they were concerned about every participant in the GD and even gave chance to those who were not able to keep up with the group.
And regarding your advice of not spending time and money on institutes like SITM, bro...just talk to people in the telecom industry and I'm sure it'll help u understand why students spend 2 yrs of their precious life and a hefty sum of money to study here.
By the way...I also believe that the process followed by some Symbi colleges for shortlisting based on profile, is not very transparent....and I agree that Symbi walas are no Saints..well why should we expect them to be anyways? It's business for them after all...but they should be given credit for the quality of education they provide...
Coming back to SITM, I think the entire selection process was very well organised and every effort was made by the seniors / GD moderators / Interviewer's to help the participants give their best...
PS: I think I might not be able to make it....couldn't answer a few questions in the PI, which I should hav...but then.. it was my fault and there's now way I can blame the interviewer's...
So Cra4w, just rest the conspiracy theories for now
and let's wait for the results.Cheers..:D

dude u seem to be getting very jingoistic about ur institute. I understand u have paid ur fees and are looking forward to getting a good education and in the process hoping to build a good career. But please look at this from our point of view as well. Why wud any institute make entrance exams so easy? Isn't it obvious they want more ppl to apply so as to make more money and hence fool the less fortunate ones, who cudn't get gud grades in their academics into believing that they also have a chance. Even IIMs admit ppl with not so good grades. Their selection criteria is strictly based on cat & gdpi scores. Acads are secondary for them. This is not the case with symbi. They give u an impression that even ppl with with no so gr8 acads wud be admitted when all they do is select ppl with 80s and 90s in their acads. Hence I feel their GDPI and other selection procedures are just a farce. This is really unfair to those who cudn't perform well in school and college.

Ya, its true its my insti and I'll stand for it, coz I've almost spent my 2 yrs over here and it has been fair to me and my colleagues till now!! Now as u r saying the test was too easy, then I'd pray that from the next time it gets too tough so that justice is done at ur end. U r just an outsider and I've been here and I know that ppl with average grads are also studying here. The only thing is that they proved their knowledge in their GD/PIs, but alas u were not and thts why u r being a cry-baby!! U talk about IIMs not looking into grads, well u must have read an article on how IIMs these days prefer ppl from IITs a lot. And leave alone IIMs, ISB that takes students only based on their profiles must be very degraded college for u?!!
Well fine...I understand that ur stint of GD/PI didnt get too well. But now wasting ur energy blaming the process is worthless. So I hope you as a master of ur own life slog a bit more and get into a better insti. All the best and hope the buck stops here..

dude I never said my GDPI went bad. In fact it went really smooth. Even in the PI I was never questioned even once about my poor acads. In fact there was no verification of any certs done either. That's what made me doubt the whole process in the first place. Also I checked SITM's syllabus with some industry experts who found most of the topics really flimsy and irrelevant in today's times. I understand u r a former student and have got a decent job via SITM. But that may probably be becoz of ur already gud profile and not becoz of the degree u got at SITM. Students with not so good profiles may not be as lucky as u when they graduate from SITM. I am not trying to malign anyone but the whole process really made me feel that it was just carried out just to complete a formality and not to seriously select a candidate. I could be wrong and am open to criticism. I also wud request u to share with us ur profile, ur acads, ur work ex before joining SITM and the pay packages before and after joining SITM. Also how was ur performance at SITM?

Ok...to resolve ur doubts i'll go one by one:
1. Verification is not done during GD/PI, it is done when u get an admission call. Discrepancies in your records and u lose ur seat. Fair??? Well this process depends on the institute as industry experts say it Business Process Management.
2. Which industry experts are you talking about, I'd like to know their designations. Our curriculum is updated in sync with the industry after getting responses from our esteemed alumnis and experts that too from GM, Sr. Managers, AVP levels. Beat that!! Hope ur industry experts are not of Software Developer / Tester levels.
3. Ya I have a decent profile, but my grads are average 70-like. I have a work ex of 2 years in a leading IT MNC. I performed really well and I got a great job that I don't have the authority to disclose. But I have my colleague who's a B. Com (not an Engineer....mind it), not very good grads but performed well in SITM and got placed in one of the India's top 3 IT Firms that too with a fat package. Do you still say ppl with poor grads and background can't fare well.
Always think before u speak!! You haven't landed in a B School yet and still u r being the industry expert....signs of a novice.:splat:

Ok I accept defeat. What u said sounds very relieving. But I am afraid of my chances at SITM coz my GDPI, extempore was a cake walk and I didn't feel any kind of stress at any stage. But nevertheless can u pls share ur own xperiences during GDPI, if u cud just recollect them?
