imo 1st one is incorrect....

ps- I feel that when a simple statement is made, "say" can be used, however when something important with intention (order/request/instruction/information) is said, "tell" can be used.

First sentence shayad thoda galat hai "deepu said that he enjoyed himself in Goa" hona chahiye shayad.
The main difference between say and tell is that tell is always followed directly by a personal object and say never is(e.g. Said to me, not said me)
Priya says you have a new job.
Priya tells ME you have a new job.

When used in direct speech told is used only for instructions or information while said can be used for anything.

See, 'told-tell' is a verb that needs an object. Subject tells object.
'said' is a verb that represents an action that only needs a Subject.
