A mod 9 = 1 -> A = 9k + 1
B,C, D will also be of form 9k + 1 -> 1 is the only option ? What is the correct answer ?

As @YouMadFellow says sum would be of the form 9*k+1, then Option 1 would only satisfy.

@ABISEK Basically, the digit sum doesn't change.. i.e
Say, earlier, A = 19991999 -> Digit sum= 56
Now, If I take digit sum of 56 , it will be 2
And, If I take digit sum of the number 56, after adding 5 and 6 i.e. 11 , it will still be 2.. So, since the options contain single digit numbers, the digit sum pattern must match..
