Oh and before I leave, never forget the 1812 Overture from V for Vendetta!!
A boy of height 100 cm starts walking along a straight line away from the base of a lamppost at a speed of 1.4 m/s. If the lamp is 42 m above the ground, find the length (in cm) of the boy β¬β’s shadow after 40 seconds.
(a) 122.6
(b) 136.6
(c) 143.8
(d) 145.6
Approach!!

b) 136.6
After 40 seconds, Distance between lamp and boy = 1.4*40 = 56 m
So, 1/ 42 = x/ (x +56) => x = 136.6 cm...
Find the sum of all possible five-digit numbers that can formed using the digits 0, 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 without repetition.

136.6 draw the lamppost, draw the boy at a distance of 56 m from it. Make triangles by joining the topmost points of lamppost and boy and extending it till it reaches the ground. Length of shadow=y , then 1/y=42/56+y

Why did you assume that the shadow of the lamppost coincides with the shadow of the boy? Is it the general assumption?
