finally cleared sbi po in my first attempt
How could we see the circle alloted to us ?
Hi guys... I am a PO in Syndicate Bank. Joined 2 weeks back. I also got selected in SBI PO, so will be joining SBI after my notice period of 3 months. Those who got unfavourable postings, I would like to offer some suggestions to be satisfied in your circle:
1) If you are a Northie posted in S. India or vice versa, food will be a BIG issue for you. Only solution is to learn to cook your own food. That is what I do now and I am very happy about it. So invest in an Induction cooker and other necessary utensils after joining. Don't worry about transfers. All your transfer expenses will be borne by the bank. In my bank, I get a transfer reimbursement of Rs. 2.8/km/ton.
2) Request your parents to invest in a two wheeler (scooter or bike). Trust me, it will be worth it. Personal suggestion: Don't go for fancy sports bike. It doesn't look professional.
3) Do not bother about customers behavior. If you are in S.India and in a rural posting, you will have a blast. They respect bank officers a lot. Personal experience: In my branch and the SBI branch near my home, customers remove their footwear before entering the bank. My branch here closes at 5:15 PM. SBI Branch near my home closes at 6:30 PM.
4) If you got Home Posting, please stress on getting RURAL Posting. You can finish your 3 year rural term in your home state and it can't get better than this. After this, all your postings till retirement will be in Urban and Semi-Urban.
5) Lethargy will be noticed in the management. Things go very slow in PSBs. But you don't need to pull your hair over this. Because if things don't work out, the Govt. can never ignore these banks. They will find SOME WAY or the other to get things done.
6) In a branch, clerks are the true kings. You can't force them to do work. But as far as I have seen, the clerks are very hard working in S. India. But in N. India, tread cautiously.
7) Don't enter the branch with an air of superiority that you are a PO. You HAVE to do a clerk's job also. It is necessary because if you don't know the intricacies of a clerk's job, how will you lead a branch of clerks when you become BM?
8) Targets will be there in SBI and other PSBs. But its not necessary that you HAVE to achieve targets. If you don't, the AGM and DGM will fire at you. But that's the worst that will happen (Unless privatization occurs). Worst case, your promotion may be stalled. Do big blunders and you will get increment cuts.
9) In this period of 45 days, learn how to type good professional letters. Learn Excel Sheets. Improve your presentation and communication skills. Learn to be professional. Learn about company policies and the factors on which management appraises their employees. These will never be taught in STCs. But these skills matter A LOT.
