We know nothing about years before 2000BC i.e Indus Valley Civilization.. But we do not have writen or forensic info about Ramayana and Mahabharta.. Can we consider that these two rulers (i say it as per the scientific sense...dont want to hurt anyone's sentiments) came between 2000BC to 0 BC( May be before Budhha i.e 500BC.) and Purans and Upnishads were written after 0 AD as there were no writing languages. And all these rulers like Rama, Krishna, Budhha, Jesus, Muhammed rose along 'River Valley Civilizations'.. like Rama, Krishna, Budhha in Ganga River area and Jesus and Muhammed along Mesopotamian area.
