As A Data base administrator I can Explain something why the servers Go under maintainance before uploading the results.
Although the size of file uploaded is less but Since its a result lots of people will log in and this will increAse session, process, cpu, memory utilization and the db and server may crash. So they need to increase these parameters before broadcasting result. This activity will take around 45 minutes.

Friday 13th- assumed to be the unluckiest day, may be SBI can change this assumption by announcing PO results today.
Everyone What I was expecting is What has Happened. I expected 30 mins of downtime and they have made the changes. But result will not be declared during business hours it will be declared after 5. Because sbi domain is not only used for results but for several Other things. Now I may assure u that Result will be out today evening but not before 5
I think today is the apt time for declaring results for both successful candidates and Unsuccessful ones
For Successful ones : Diwali tak roz diwali
For unsuccessful : Atleast they will time to reconcile to the hard hitting fact and will eventually recover by Diwali
