This step could forever change the way British dealt in International affairs and now it will have more freedom to follow its own path rather than following the EU guidelines and policy. However this exit has sent serious signals throughout the world where many markets could suffer as a result of this exit. Moreover it can stir other nations in the European Union to opt for the same referendum and hence the European Union might disintegrate in the future.
Britain wanted to leave the European Union as it was facing quite a lot of issues like economic governance and immigration. Britain paid a hefty sum for membership without getting much benefit from the European Union. There was a lot of immigrants especially from Poland in the recent past which Britain wanted to curb but could not as it was bound by law. Any citizen within the European Union was allowed to go and live in any other country within the European Union. However despite all this immigration, Britain maintained a very high employment rate. However the Brexit will still take some time to be implemented as a lot of formalities are yet to be done and till then Britain has to follow the guidelines of the EU.
As far as India is concerned major setbacks may occur for only a short-term period and things will ease out in the longer run as stated by our Finance Minister. European Union is a major trade partner for India and with exit of Britain India will have to deal separately with Britain which might be a blessing in disguise as it might bolster India-UK ties. However with the exit market might plunge as there will be volatility and costs might increase. Gold price might increase and at the same time the Indian Companies working in Britain now would have to take care of two markets separately.
Despite all this RBI has promised to infuse liquidity in the market if things become unstable. Thus though the Brexit might have some serious implications now it should ease out in the future giving India new opportunities to exploit and create a stronger tie with Britain which is India's major trading partner.
