pm mock question confusion

Q.After getting three successive discounts,an article of marked price of Rs 800 is available for 432.If the first two discounts are 10% and 25%.Then the discount will be ??

ans. is 20%

my confusion is not in getting answer...my confusion is if 800=100%

then 432=54%....difference or discount in this case is 46%

but if we get discount by combining..10%, 25%, 20%..for example..

10+25+10*25/100=37.50......37.50+20+20*37.50/100=65....in this case 65...why it is so

plz sort out my confusion

The production of a company experiences ups and downs every year. The production increases for two consecutive years consistently by 10% and in the third year it decreases by 5%. Again, in next two years, it increases by 10% each year, and decreases by 5% in the third year. If we start counting from the year 2008 what will be the effect on the production of the company in the year 2012?

Okay, one more concern which most of the candidates are having is, "Highest 68 aaye uss mock mein, mere sirf 53".

It DOESN'T MATTER what marks the topper get, the topper isn't going to decide the cutoff, nor is he/she going affect your selection per se.

The candidate getting 63 marks in Prelims will qualify for Mains, and so the candidate score 52 marks.

However, what you should really look for is the percentile. And, while you're comparing your percentile, keep in mind the 'sample size'. The sample size of both, OB and PM is very small when compared to the number of candidates appearing in the exam.

If you really want to get an idea of sample size and compare yourself with the other aspirants, you should go with Mahendra's, but then, Mahendra's has its own set of issues with the interface as well as the solution and analysis.

The bottom line is, stop comparing yourself with the topper, there will always be someone who will top, but in that list, your name too would be there, in the list of candidates who cleared the exam.

Remember when you were a child, and your parents would compare your marks with those of the topper? How pissed you'd get. The same way, don't piss yourself by comparing. DON'T be a parent!

Yar ST20 ki marks to bhut hi bura aaya....
