today after so much confusion regarding eye vision test..i asked a optician after seeing my presciption he said i am fit for a-2,i would like to suggest everyone that in case of any confusion regarding this or any medical standards ask an expert only..dnt put these question in blog or anything..it will only create confusion.....
Why guys are spreading rumour here..plz read officail notification of A2 standard..guys donot know what is VA test..who told -2,-3 ,-4 is not eligible..just have some sense..railway will test whether you are 6/6,6/9 without glass or not...chasma kitna mota pehna hai usse fark nahni padta...go to any optometrist/opthamologist and clarify your doubt

#copied_from_fb Power of eye and visual acuity is a completely different thing. There is no relation between the two. When you go for an eye checkup, they will let you read some lines. In that chart, there are total 6 lines. The top most line is 6/60 (always) and the bottom most line is 6/6 (6/5 in some good hospitals). So it depends on you that upto which line you are able to read properly with one eye closed or with both eyes. That is called your visual acuity. If the last line is 6/6, than 2nd last lane will be 6/9 and third last will be 6/12 then 6/18 and so on up to 6/60. Your eye power is the correction required in Diopters to get back your eyes to the normal vision. Some candidates can't read all 6 lines even with their glasses, that means their visual acuity is 6/9 or 6/12 or 6/18 and so on with glasses having power X Diopters. Where X can be any integer excluding 0. For TA, ASM and GG, you have to read till the second last line properly, with each eye one by one, without any glasses, to qualify in the medical. But even if you use glasses, then the glass power should not exceed -2 D. so glasses are allowed in the medical of ASM TA and GG until and unless your glass/eye power is less than or equal to -2 D and if you are able to read properly till the second last line properly with each eye. Regarding lasik: Although lasik or any kind of surgery is strictly not allowed in RRB but still if you want to take risk than you can. It totally depends on your luck and the expertise of the doctor whether he will detect your surgery. In typing and CA posts, C1 category medical is required which is very lienent. And LASIK is allowed for these posts. So according to me, those having glasses more than -2 D should go for lasik because ultimately you have to take risk. Without lasik you are already out but with lasik, there is a chance to qualify if your luck permits. Today I went to AIIMS for my eye checkup and talked in detail with opthalmologist. She cleared all my doubts about railways because she had other patients who were there for LASIK because they want to qualify in RRB medical Friends I hope that you like the info I have shared with you. That's all I learned today at AIIMS, the premier hospital of India. ☺
