avg marks of top 0.1% students in all shifts=95

Avg. of all candidates in all shifts=80

Avg. of top 0.1% students in my shift(17th-2nd shift)=100

Avg. of all candidates in my shift=86(on the basis of top 500 entries in ms-excel entry on pg)

My marks=91.66

SO NORMALIZED MARKS=

[(95-80)/(100-86)*(91.66-86)+80]=86.06


NOW LET SOMEONE SCORE 85 IN A TOUGH SET WHERE AVG. MARKS IS 80 AND TOP 0.1% STUDENTS IN HIS SHIFT HAS AVERAGE 90

THEN NORMALIZED MARKS=

[(95-80)/(90-80)*(85-80)+80]=87.5


SO THE POINT IS INSTEAD OF COMPARING ONE SHIFT TO OTHER SHIFT........WE MUST COMPARE OUR MARKS TO THE AVG. MARKS OF STUDENTS OF OUR SHIFT
