It's all about merit index- how it works let's say avg of top 0.1 percent of electrcial guys is 115 and that of ece guys is 110 , than both will be equal after merit index formula, now take a electrical guy who has 60 marks ( minimum qualifying) and a ec guy who has also 60 , both will be equal after merit index, so hope you got that if difference is x which will decrease from x ( here x is 5) to 0 of someone get marks equal to top 0.1% avg marks to minimum qualifying marks, let's take a sample based on the above data, 100 marks of ece will be equivalent to 104.3 marks of electrical(not 105) , 95 of ece approx 99 ( I did calculate this but, it must be around it) , so you can see as mark scored by a candidate tends to minimum qualifying marks , difference of equivelent marks of ece and ee will tends to 0 , hope you understand! .
