Respected Sir/Madam, The average marks in CBT 2 in each shifts of Mechanical and Allied Engineering and Electrical and Allied Engineering Group are higher than that of Electronics and Allied Engineering Exam Group. Infact a huge difference is there in average marks of Electronics and Allied Engineering Group as compared to other exam groups. There is common post eligibility in this exam and hence, it will be a discrimination for Electronics and Allied Engineering Exam Group if group wise/ branch wise normalisation is done. As the Merit Index formula has only one major factor (the mean marks of only 0.1% high scorer of CBT 2 of particular exam group) and therefore, this formula will not hold true for minimal discrimination. It will be good for Electronics and Allied Engineering Exam Group if normalisation is done irrespective of different exam group i.e., a common normalisation will be the genuine method for minimal discrimination with Electronics and Allied Engineering Group.
