As the Litchi season begins I am reminded of those heady summer vacations when we would have our breakfast and then climb up a litchi tree and eat litchis till our ears surrender to Mother's badgering about bathing, Lunch and of course, homework. The Litchi tree was not without its thrills. Evading those Red Ants nests was quite a task. We would constantly push our luck to see how far up can we climb in quest of the most succulent Litchis typically on the very top - nourished by rain and sunlight. The most horrifying moments were those when we would climb up the summit, not knowing how to climb down because climbing down requires more balance and finesse than climbing up. Somewhere in those climb-downs, I grew.
