Coming to Pg after a while and it feels good. Proudly now I am an engineer and part of a successful startup. Sometime back on pg I was not qualified enough to respond what does I do... so now here it goes
This post is also for young grads who are determined enough to start but needs a backfire.
Though I am not StartUp founder/CEO I like to describe my daily routine which was surely the routine of My company CEO/founder 4 months ago before my joining.
To summarize my work is somehow difficult. Any one who asks my designation, My reply is operational manager. How right I'm, I don't know. Actually I see dispatch.
The moment order comes to the moment order reaches the customer my responsibility does not end
My schedule:
It normally start at early night or early morning.But to make understanding easier let me start other way.
First thing I do in morning is to summarize the orders on paper .... And mail it to packing uncle latest by 9 o clock.
We are listed on these portals where we get orders
- Amazon
- shopclues
- snapdeal
- fabfurnish
- pepperfry
- Our own site etc
We dispatch our consignment through following couriers
- ATS (amazon transport service)
- Bluedart
- ecom
- aramex
- fedex
Of amazon there are two modes. There own courier service called easy ship "Amazon transport service". In this there person comes to pick the consignment. There person comes to pick the consignment.
So ATS = easy ship
Second one = self shipping by importing to our portal and assigning our courier partners like fedex, aramex.
So first easy shipping
After clicking easy ship order one at a time,I enter the particular order fullfilment page. There I copy paste invoice number, Assign weight, Assign dimension of package in which the consignment goes. Then I assign time at which assignment has to be picked up by ats guy. Then I come on confirmation page. I recheck the information and The price the ats will deduct as shipping charge, And click schedule pickup. Pickup now has been scheduled and an email has been sent to the customer. At this stage I can't change any dimensions now. Then I download shipping label to be pasted outside package box and pack slip inserted inside box as customer copy.
There are 2 slots normally while assigning time. 10 am to 1 pm, 1pm to 4 pm ( Hope its not getting boring :] ). My senior is always there to supervise and handle unexpected situation. This easy shipping is done up to 9:30 am. In half an hour if less orders are there and 3 quarter or 1 hour n large orders.
Now comes Shopclues:
Here there is auto manifest option. after clicking auto manifest Orders list comes in the sequence that which product is ordered in which quantity.
product A - 45 units
product B - 5 units
Example : I have 30 units of product A in stock. So I fill 30 in front of 45 and leaves the columns which is totally out of stock. So after quickly filling all the columns I click proceed to fulfill.

- orders fulfilled
- orders can't be fulfilled (non deliverable address)
So I select all the orders in orders fulfilled column and download pack slip and also the manifest of respective couriers. Here normally aramex , bluedart and ecom are self assigned by the shopclues.
SNAPDEAL:
Select pending orders. Orders list come. To group like shopclues click all option. I select the orders which I can fulfill and click on download Pack slip +invoices. These moves to printed orders. Then I download excel sheet(csv format) of printed orders from printed order panel. I have to manually select the awb number of each person and enter into manifest column just near pending orders column. I select courier enters all his awb., press enter after each awb number, click add to manifest and download manifest
Work Finished ( Only half :] )
I have to do this work before 11 am.
Then I import amazon self ship orders , pepperfry, fabfurnish to kart rocket. normally import from amazon self ship and assign fedex courier and generate pickup on my site as 12 o noon is the deadline of generating pickup. Otherwise Fedex refuses to come that day. Then I import pepperfry aur fab furnish orders manually to kartrocket. This is the biggest task. if there is no fedex assignable order in amazon self ship then i have to import order from rest 2.
After Importing on our portal we assign aramex or as usual fedex courier. some no courier options come. That we deliever by Indian Speed post. After importing and assigning slips have to be downloaded.
The most annoying thing in Fedex shipping labels are that in long adresses some part of it gets ommited and we have to complete it by hand. Moreover The moble number written is in such a small font we have to rewrite it in Bigger one. Also if there are 2 3 product in 1 ordr that also get ommited nor specifying the number of items numerically.
Oh gosh...
We forgot the packing Uncle 😃
As soon as amazon easy ships label are out. It has to be given to uncle as they come early. Me and my senior tears waste part of shipping label, repeatedly hand it to him, also we have to convey or tell which packages are to be combined (as they are part of single order).To bring our out of stock material is also one of vital task. For this My senior and me goes together. He selects the quality and bargain. My work is carry those material in carry bag. Lol
In this whole process the person whose task is maximum is packing Uncle. More Than us.
My one of senior most lady person performs customer interaction, documentation work etc.

I have been travelling to Gurgaon from Naraina since the last 3 days , and the journey is not just time consuming but also, very tiring! I usually travel in the metro after the peak hours . Even after the peak hours are over, sometimes I manage to get a seat and sometimes I don't. BUT I AM OKAY WITH IT!We women, have a whole compartment in the Delhi Metro which is reserved for us, which has become a need for women due to safety reasons. Rest of the compartments are for both men and women. But why is it that women always want a seat and expect men to stand for them, whereas they never sacrifice their seat for a male( old, kid, sick, tired or dead). They hardly seem to care. Today, I was in a hurry so I entered the general compartment . A girl , who must be in her early 20's, made an almost 40 year old male give up his seat because she was carrying a lot of luggage. By the time I reached Hauz khas, the compartment reserved for ladies had unoccupied seats but a lot of males in the general compartment were standing because the seats were occupied by the ladies, and since you know " entering women's compartment is prohibited for men" , one can't do much even if he is sick or is just travelling from one end of the city to another. We demand equality. We fight for our rights. We smash down a male for silly reasons, but why don't we stand for them? why cant we shift to the ladies compartment ,leaving a seat for them in general coaches ? why don't we reserve coaches for them too?#think #genderequality #equalrights
