PREPARATION FOR PHASE I
Hope you are doing great!!!
I am sure you are busy writing mocks for phase 1 these days. You might be having queries ranging from which mocks to take, to how to write the exam, which sections to do first and how much time to devote on each section.
We will try to answer these here:
1) You can join any mock series. Just see that they have good past record and are used by a good number of students so that you can get a fair comparison. It is very important to analyse each of your mock performance. Devote at least 2-3 hours for analyzing your performance. Just writing more and more mocks will not help. Analysis is the key. Therefore, look for some platform which can make analysis of your performance easier.
2) Regarding which section to do first. There is no hard and fast rules here. Just begin with something you are comfortable with. Ideally, you can finish GA section in 25-30 minutes or even less and the rest 1.5 hrs are there for rest 3 sections. Spare around 20-25 Mins for English and rest of the time for reasoning and Quant. So effectively, you will have 65-70 minutes for both of these sections and there are 90 questions to be done. On an average, if you aim 90% accuracy, you should try and do about 60-70 questions in this time frame.
3) Now, if you score about 15 marks in English, 45 in GA (which is possible) and 35-40 marks in reasoning, 15-20 in quant; you will achieve a total of 110-120 marks which is good to clear the cut offs. Please bear in mind that I am talking about a paper of average difficulty. If difficulty level decreases, the cutoffs can be as high as 125 as was the case in 2013.
4) It is impractical just to keep writing mocks and mugging formulas. Just remember that you can clear you basic fundamentals in quant, DI, reasoning and Verbal sections. Do go through the basics ones and try solving questions using these fundamentals. If you are comfortable with them, go ahead to look for shortcuts. Mind you, shortcuts can be double edged sword. They can confuse you as well. Whenever in doubt, start from the basics.
5) Don't focus on management section from now on till Nov 21st. The management syllabus can be covered in 8-10 days post phase 1. But do cover FM and ESI as they will help you clear you GA as well.
Lastly, if you have any doubts or you want any help from us, please feel free to write to us. We will try and help you in best possible way.
Hey guys, can you please clear the air, whether Phase-2 Paper-1 and Paper-3 (Fin & Mngmt, my optional) will be of objective or subjective type?
Thanks in advance!
Can any experienced aspirant explain what exactly needs to be studied in "RBI Bulletin" which is mentioned in syllabus. There is 70 page RBI monthly pdf released every month right? I just went through January 2015 bulletin and there is only 1 article on "make in india, largely for india" which seems relevant. All the rest are just tables and tables. Do they tables have any significance? What exactly needs to be studied in RBI Bulletin
