Earlier RBI recruitment was different, they used to recruit directly from premium B-Schools like FMS, IIMS, around 40 candidates through that route & 80 - 100 through common recruitment route, these 40 candidates they used to put in highly specialised roles that required special analytical and superior skills, the common route people were given general roles,

since the b-school route is closed by high court injunction for last two years, RBI changed its process and has made it more inclined to people with premium qualifications from premier institutes, the exam is like NET pattern now, this pattern will ensure people with degrees from premium institutes get through, by proper filtration at each levels, a fresh premium B school grad with preferably tech degree too from premium colleges will sail through, this is indirectly RBIs way of saying we need more people like Raghuram Rajan in the institute and common and ordinary people should excuse us, only RBI got it wrong, academic achievements doesn't ensure the person will be best suited for the role, PSU banks were nationalised since 1969 and till today after 20 years of liberalisation hold 70 percent of market share, RBIs previous process was time tested and its entire workforce at present is through that route,

ps. i am a common man and i would request rbi to conduct a social experiment, take hundred kids from pre primary levels, provide them all with equivalent environment conditions from childhood, pre-primary levels, equal grooming, schooling, parenting, and then you can have a test designed like that.

just saw an innovative poll desinged on eco survey point by some aspirant here on PG I think eco survey was never relevant even in the previous pattern of subjective type questions.hence it wont be reqd in the new mcq style.Eco survey is not even read by upsc aspirants from top to bottom.Those who read it for upsc only do so very selectively.Ramesh SIngh has given an awesome gist for eco survey in his 7th edition,dont miss that.U should read similar gists of eco survey for R singh or other sources and not the original document.The financial awareness capsule of BA might serve u better than eco survey,considering the objective nature of the exam.but nothing can be said with conviction as of now,since this is the first year in the new pattern. I can surely tell u one thing though,eco survey original will only kill your time :-P I would also suggest that u avoid reading Indian economy special ed by Pratiyogita Darpan,or read it selectively at best.Infact instead of reading Special Ed of PD,u can read the eco topics of any upsc magazine for the past 7-8 months,that I think,would serve u better. My suggestion if you have some extra bucks to spend and are yet to cover the syllabus go for DAT preperlyrnest materials If you don't have extra buck and time bhi less than r.Singh/sriram eco etc.. For eco for fin Internet and those two books nd for mgmt well internet Bakki those who are done with the syllabus by reading conventional books like mishra puri etc... Along with an obj type book like r Singh than relax and no need to dwell further you guys have done enough Regarding mocks well mocks are mocks as u saw in phase-1 So just do it for the sake of doing without much expectation ki wat wl be in da exam Just avoid mock bank bakki practice mock is okk but bit too simple bakki preperlyrnest ka bhi okk okk from wat I saw frm free test Not bad but again bit St frwd Ragade fellows questions bhi dekhe again too simple not upto da mark So wat I would say ki as this wl be the 1st tym so we can't expect much from the mocks until unless someone hacks to the system nd gets the question before hand we can't expect much similarities
