I don't think that paper was tough this time (leave aside LR, even in that any serious aspirant would have done at least 30 which is possible in 45 minutes). If you see the attempts of most of the puys almost everyone has marked 60+ in GK section. All other sections are also good. Most of the questions this time in GK was direct one so the chances are less for wrong questions. Even I attempted 80/80 in GK. No way cut off would go lower. As per my guess it would hover around 110.

Well I cleared 1st phase earlier and have appeared this year too. GK was definitely a notch lower then last year(but even that wasn't tough). But the rest three sections were tougher then last year. It was definitely a tough task to attempt those questions in the stipulated time.

My take on cutoffs(95-100)

Puys..to be honest whateva i hv scored ..i managed it in 15 days...i was doin a useless diploma course in "rural banking" from a very prestigious institution previously...n after dat ended i just had 15 days fr rbi...

So here is hw i "prepd"

the most preferred books fr rbi are as following...

ESI- Dutt n Sundaram/Mishra n Puri

Personally..i did refer both the buks..found none f dem useful (atleast i cudnt manage evn half d syllabus in 15 odd days)...n d worst thing was...i knew just one answer in ESI (related to "micro credit...thnks to my diploma!!!).My brilliant performance is reflected in my score as well....
Honestly...i feel 40 is a gr8 score going by the prep i had...n juding by oders marks...m humbled...

English was not an issue...i hv a habit f reading newspapers(read TOI)...n dats abt it.I did refer to a bus. commnication buk fr d current format f writng letters/correspondences etc.N during d xam i think i picked d most boring topic (sth related to "global warmin") n just wrote evrytng i knew abt it.

for Management- take any buk...n stick to it...I referred oder buks only fr certain chapters wch were nt available in my buk. I avoided buks frm foreign writers like Robbins...becoz personally I dnt think dey hv material wch is apt fr writing in exams like these.

Finance i referred many buks n sources fr finance..bcz i dint find one single buk..wch was complete.I found dat book by Bhola... a bouncer...so skipped dat.....referred to IM pandey fr sm topics...Mishra n Puri...Dutt n Sundaram...ET...etc etc.Score 60 in F&M...n; i think i might hv done well in Mngmnt..n screwed finance.

though d useless degree dint earn me nythng...but i did hv a hang of majority f the topics dat were asked in RBI...n access to one f d finest libraries during my stay at dis particular institute..n m happy dat i did well in dis xam...given d tym i had ...
I hope i make the cut dis tym!!! wish me luck!!:)

Guys i didnt gave exam last year but i have not heard even a single guy outside this forum saying that it was easier than last year. Everybody's attempt is more than 130 but guys this time GK is main factor and also changed pattern.

So Cut off will definitely not go beyond 100-105. Those who think that they have 80/80 in GK, I have been seeing from my past experiences that they are the ones who count flukes as Correct too. I have been clearing every Bank exam from past 1 year and my attempt always is less than other people and i think that i will not score much but when results come those who claimed approx 20+ questions than my attempts also scores lesser than me.

So people PagalGuy's Cut-off are always on higher side by atleast 10 marks.

Rest you are intelligent.

Guys,

Any idea wen results will be out??
It will come in Employment news only or on the website as well?

After giving my paper and comin to this forum felt like....

But goin by my previous experiences which are da same as ur's regarding cut-off... I left all worries abt me clearing prelims and gearing up for Mains...

Right Post Very Right Time...
:cheers::cheers:

I feel cut off this time wud be around 93-96 marks in aggregate.
QA 5-6
GK 20-22
EN 8-9
LR 13-15
Last yr total time for QA+LR+EN was 110 mins. This year it was 85 mins. Though GK was more data based, but number of questions were more. One needs to get on an average 3 questions correct in GK to secure same marks as that of 2 questions correct last year. So if one scales it to 80 questions, the ease of GK is offset.
Secondly, last year QA and EN had 40 questions each giving more options to the candidates to select the question. This year it was 30 in each. In LR, last year number of questions were 80 again giving the candidates the option to select and attempt more questions. This year, LR inspite of being tough as compared to last year (especially puzzles) and number of questions restricted to 60, candidates had few options. There was significant time reduction too(15 minutes) in this section as compared to last year!!!
ATB guys!!!

I agree with your Overall and English Cut off - But feels that LR will not be more than 11-12 and QA will not be less than 9-10 as within 20 min 9-10 questions are very much possible. So acc to me it will be

QA-9
GK- Cant comment. It is most unpredictable section.
Eng- 9
LR - 11

Even i feel that LR cut off will be quite low this time...but regarding quants, comparing the cut offs of the previous year (2011-6, 2010-4), it should hover around 5-7, not more than that!!

Regards !!

No. of students selected for the next round will be around 1500.

Regarding cutoffs for obc I think there is a difference of around 10 marks compare to general category.

Hi puys,
a very late entry into this thread but have been following it for a few days now... i think gk was an easy section though I myself din't do much good in it. but my take is they r gonna go easy with sectional cut offs but raise the bar high on overall

My attempts:
GK- 59 ()
Eng - 29()
Quant - 15
Reasoning -30 to 35 ( i guess..never got time to count)

Are there any answer key's available online .. haven't got hold of any so far

Hi everyone,
I am a graduate who wants to join a career in banking. I am completely new here and would welcome any and all advice regarding the following(as I really have no idea):

1) Regarding salary, comparable workload, pension, frequency of transfer etc which is best: SBI/PSU banks/private banks/RBI Grade B?

1) Is the chance to be allocated to your home state more in RBI than in the rest?

2)Is an RBI Grade B officer likely to be transferred once he is allocated a position at one of the RBI branches, as I have read here that bank PO are transferred often for the 1st 3 years??

I can't find reliable information on this anywhere. Kindly enlighten me if possible.

Has anyone here heard of atleast 1 guy from arts/literature/engineering background who made it as a grade b officer???
