yaar kuch centers me se to kisika nahi hua... 😞
@maverik02
Thanks
For ESI- Syllabus for this paper is given in the RBI advt...I took up all the topics one by one and made some short notes & that really helped.
Books- Indian Eco by Dutta & Sundaram, Yearly issues of Civil Services Chronicle for social topics like poverty, demography, etc and PD's annual Economy issue.
For FMG- This paper was of very basic nature and questions were direct.Though i haven't scored well in this paper & even i felt that my presentation was not upto the mark.
Newspapers esp business one like ET,Business Standard, etc is must with special emphasis on articles.

Hi Puys,
I have been following this forum for my RBI preparation. My Marks are:
Eng: 58
ESI : 66
FM :70
INT :20.
Total : 214
I will try to help out guys with whatever limited knowledge I have acquired while preparing for RBI.
Can anyone share previous years' question papers for prelims and mains ?
@h215 Sir I am not going to clarify about salary, location of job, promotional aspects of grade b etc.... If you have any doubts reg. preparation, pls ask? I am ready to share.
@ajit19 Economic Issue Books to refer : Indian Economy by Dutta Sundaram is a must. People will say not to refer the book as it is quite bulky one but that is the most imp book to refer for economic problems portions. It helps you to understand the concepts and have a better understanding. Agreed that book is quite bulky but you dont have to complete the entire book. You have to strictly stick to the syllabus.
Social Issue For this portion, I refered a book called Sociology Of Indian Society by C.N. Shankar Rao (Sultan Chand Publication). I referred this book because I have given my UPSC mains with Sociology as one of the subject. Also, this book is quite easy to understand for a non arts graduate like me. I am an engg graduate by the way :)
For both the above topics you have to collect the previous year question papers which is a must while preparation. You can easily get these papers by googling. Please make notes of at least all the previous year question papers and memorize those. Chances are there that the questions gets repeated some times.
@happy2guide Hi
Can you share your preparation strategy with respect to Phase 1 of of RBI Grade B officer exam ?
Can you share your preparation strategy with respect to Phase 1 of of RBI Grade B officer exam ?
Arey yaar ye RBI vale kab form nikalenge....???
Din ba din tension badhti ja rhi hai....Zindagi kab settle hogi yaar..
@happy2guide Can u plzz elaborate how one should start from the scratch for Grade B Phase II Part...????
@rajendergp Phase 1 of RBI is quite diff from PO exams. This is because in PO exams you are provided a time of say 2hrs 15 mins and you have to answer Maths, Reasoning, English and GK with that stipulated time. Whereas in RBI there is stipulated time period for each section say Maths 30 mins and so on. So the most imp thing here is to clear the cut off of each section. As per RTI, Cut off for RBI Prelims 2010 (Phase I)
This is provided by Mr.CSL80 of Pagal Guy, through RTI
Sectional Cutoffs(minimum marks / sectional cut-offs)
Number indicates correct questions.
Section SC ST OBC GEN
GA 8 8 8 12
English 7 7 7 11
Quant 3 3 3 6
Reasoning 11 11 11 17
Total cut off score for selection to phase 2
SC ST OBC GEN
85 93 94 104
Highest marks scored by individuals in different category
SC ST OBC GEN
122 122 132 148
Section SC ST OBC GEN
GA 8 8 8 12
English 7 7 7 11
Quant 3 3 3 6
Reasoning 11 11 11 17
Total cut off score for selection to phase 2
SC ST OBC GEN
85 93 94 104
Highest marks scored by individuals in different category
SC ST OBC GEN
122 122 132 148
So you can see clearing cut off is more imp than scoring high marks in one portion and not clearing cut off in some other section. Also the marks of phase 1 are not included in the final result.
Maths I am not so good in maths. So I practiced the questions from BSC Maths ( A book specially for Banking exams). I tried to workout problems from chapters from the book. I took 2-3 days for each chapter.
Reasoning Reasoning questions has undergone changes from last few years and newer type of questions are coming now a days. So for that traditional reasoning books like BSC reasoning books wont suffice. You have to practice the Model Test papers as well as the current bank exams or IBPS Bank PO exams qn papers from BSC magazine or any magazine what so ever( Reasoning portion). Same holds good for Maths portion as well.
English I dint made any special preparation for English what so ever. But RBI English questions are very tricky, This time also I found the English portion quite confusing. Always avoid the temptation of answering all the questions as you might end in getting wrong. Always try to clear the cut off which ever part you feel is tough.
GK For GK, you have to refer newspaper (1 preferably for current affairs say Indian Express or Hindu and 1 Business Newspaper preferably Business Line- Hindu Group). Prior exam 6 months newspaper reading is a must. Inside Business newspaper, you have to read the finance, money and banking portions quite thoroughly and always make note of any news pertaining to RBI in business newspapers.
Hope I make some of things clear. :)
Hi Puys, can anybody tell where can I get RBI Prelims Papers for 2010, 2009, 2008..........? Plz reply....
ajit19 How should one read these books sundaram and dutta should mug it up all ?
Reply No you dont have to mug up everything. Just check the syllabus and study the relevant portion from the book. However, you should make notes of all the previous years questions and answers from Dutta Sundaram and you can memorise the ans as I am repeatedly saying that the questions are repeating. So you may be able to crack some of the questions with quality answer. Regarding data, you dont have to worry as the data gets updated every year. So if you want to quote data in your answer sheet you have to refer the latest edition of Datta Sundaram or you can quote the latest data from business newspapers.
