Queries Related To SIMS, Pune

hey seniors at sims,
can you please tell me how many final calls have been sent out this year
also how many candidates have been waitlisted.
I really would be grateful if somebody would throw light on whether or not students who are not even waitlisted can actually get final calls later..
any assistance from even the batch joining would be welcome

The only reason why they could have called people on 2 different dates....would be to avoid a chaotic situation of around 240+ students with bags and baggage....all there at the same time.

I think hostel allotment would be done on that date.....so they didnt want to cause inconvenience to students perhaps.

Another can be.....girls and boys have been called on different dates.

Btw.....was it mentioned anywhere that this years intake would be 240 students? i mean yeah....its been around that figure for the last few years......but since the pattern has changed this year.....n its more likely to be - general management this year and specialization next....wouldnt't 240 be a rather large no.?

HI guys!
got my call letter.Guess they have called us on different days because they need to arrange for the hostels etc.so it wud be difficult for them to arrange for all 240 ppl.And I dont think its based on girls and boys.Thats ridiculous.Also,Abt that MBA degree,I think that wud be better because Symbi's gonna become deemed university and all that means better recognotion,although I dont think theres someone here who dont recognize Symbi.Anyways,thanx for ur suggestion frieden...I would go thru 12th books ,that wud be a good idea...But I also feel we have a tough time ahead....But then SIMS is worth it......

The letters were dispatched by the institue on 6 of march itself so they will take some time to reach ya plp...next 2 dyas i am sure all of u will receive it so dont worry....ATB

u can checkout the website of sbi
i consulted the site and it said that the interest rates are at 11% if u start paying the loan after the study and if pay the loan while studying then there is a relaxation of 1% on the interst rates i.e. 10%.
loan offered upto 7L for indian higher edu and 10L for abroad higher edu.
the loan is to payed back in 84EMI's i.e. 7 yrs
no security deposits----i guess----but u need to have an account in sbi
regarding the EMI's and stuff like that if u take a loan of 2L then the EMI will be around 4thousand

I don't know whether I am the right person to answer your query, but I have taken a loan from the State Bank of Travancore. And while taking the loan, there were a lot of options that we looked into including Allahabad bank and the state bank of india.
Everybody who has taken a loan from our batch has taken it from the same bank. It basically was a bulk deal. There are some 150 of us who have done so. The benefit of taking loans in a combined manner is that paperwork is minimized and they offer a lesser interest rate. We got it at just 8.5%(but then we are in an IIM). Even you guys can bargain for a lesser rate if you take it jointly. The trick is to pit one bank against the other. What we had done is... we had paid the first installment out of our own pockets, and the bank refunded it to us later on. Some people of course had not requested for the refund. Other people who had taken loans from elsewhere still took the loan and prepaid the first installment to the first bank.
If you want to take a loan from pune,,, you can pay the first installment out of your own pockets and get the loan from pune after taking admission. Or you can go to the nearest branch and request for the loan. Believe me its not such a big deal. The paperwork is mostly hassle free. You will have to furnish a guarantee from your parents, a copy of your offer letter, marksheets, address proof etc. It really doesn't take much time. You will also have to insure the loan, which can be done with the bank itself. We were able to bargain regarding the guarantee and we got it waived off.
The whole process is really very easy.
if you want to find out more just go the the nearest state bank and talk straight to the manager. I am sure he would be more than happy to entertain you

WEll me not a senior but thot of telling my views .What i think is that normally is around 10 % of the seats are waitlisted incase somepeople dont turn up,if still the seats dont get filled up then a second wait list would come out and then someone aspiring for a seat has a remote chance of making into the institute.

Me not the offical word and may not be the right person to comment but thought of helping u .

Asking some frnend or ur relative aspiring for sims ?

Your info has given me a lot of hope Anyways, where are the seniors? I (I mean we) need confirmation of the waitlist, etc. Are the exams going on or what? I am not trying to spam this forum by asking the same thing again and again. I just need confirmation from the seniors. I read much more and then post when my anxiousness increases as time goes by. Seniors, kindly post something to show that you guys are active even now on this forum. And while posting something also give a hint on the waitlist

Hey You are most welcome.......
Well as for the info all I can say is that there being just 20 people on the waitlist is authentic though I can't tell you where I got the info from.......
There's a small nbr thats why no waitlist nbr have been given yet.....and ya i have personally got in touch with a few seniors and passouts of SIMS and all say that every year all the students in the first waitlist make it...and then send out more calls for admission..............
Hopefully it will be the same trend again this year......Keep your fingers crossed.....

Yes, one of my friends brothers is aspiring for it... my dad is also a retired army officer.
seniors really are not that very active on the forum... but I am sure next year it is going to be very different from now( with people like you!!!!!)

hello frnds...

hey its raining like hell in chandigarh/panchkula..!!
and my braodband is out of order..!!
so me had to come to the cybercafe to see u all..!!i mean read u all..!!

good to see so much of cool info coming in from all of u..!!

now the best part is....me still have'nt got the sims letter...!!
does the letter say 16th june and then 1/2nd july...kindly clear this time gap for me..??
do we have any basics/fundamentals class initially on MBA at sims..in these 15days as we join sims..??
What study material will sims provide us wid...is it registers to write,stationery,sims course books for each subject?
do they also provide us wid reference books/guides for these subjects we have in our course..or do we have to buy them frm the market?
any list of such books we can get frm seniors?

SENIORS AND BATCHMATES...someone throw some light on this...

This is shruti from delhi. i have made it to sims. YAY!!!? the question mark is because of a lot many doubts that i have. now i have not read ALL of the posts so have no idea if the questions that i ask have been answered or not so here goes:
1. what has beem the highest pay packet in the last 2-3 years?
2. any ideas about the avg salary?
3. the course is PGDM i mean diploma right? so no degree? noooooo....
4. rate of placement?
5. a true idea of the companies that come on the campus? any from the hotel industry and the fashion sector?
basically what i want is big-time help from a sims student itself coz they have a proper idea of all this stuff. so i would really be glad of any help. my email id is [email protected] and my contact number is 9871532601. i need all the answers as soon as possible.
another question to everyone out there: is sims an insti that i can forego in order to take a drop? or should i go ahead? i mean how good is it for the topscoring students in sims?
i know i sound like a basket-case:nervous: right now but dont wnt to take chances. cya.:)
