In a class, 25%of students were absent for an exam. 30% failed by 20 marks and 10% passed because of grace marks of 5. Find the average score of the class if the remaining student scored an average of 60 marks and the passing marks are 33(counting the final scores of the candidates.)

Ambiguous question, i mean the answer given the book would be 2820/75. But it should be 2820/100.

even i thought the same thing.. as none of the options had the value in 20's

what annual installment will discharge a debt of Rs 1092 due in 3 years at 12%SI?

The given solution is :

Each installment = X rupees

Therefore,
--> (X + (X * 12 *1)/100) + (X + (X * 12 *2)/100) + X = 1092
--> (28X/25) + (31X/25) + X = 1092
--> (28X +31X + 25X) = (1092 * 25)
--> 84x = 1092 * 25
So, X = (1092*25)/84
X = 27300/84
X = 325 rupees

The first equation? how did that come? why dont we have (X*12*3)/12 TERM IN THE equation.Please help me.
Couldn't even understand this question
Can anyone try?

Production pattern for number of units(in cubic feet) per day.
Days: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7
No of units : 150 180 120 250 160 120 150

For a truck that can carry 2000 cubic feet, hiring cost per day is Rs.1000. Storing cost per cubic feet is Rs.5 per day.Any residual material left at the end of the seventh day has to be transferred.

Q1.If all the units should be sent to the market, then on which days should the trucks be hired to minimize the cost.
a)2nd,4th,6th,7th b)7th c)2nd,4th,5th,7th d)None of these

Q2.If the storage is reduced to Rs,0.9 per cubic feet per day, then on which day/days should the truck be hired?
a)4th b)7th c)4th & 7th d)None of these.

In an examination, 48% students failed in Hindi and 32% in History,20%failed in both the exams, if number of students who passed the examination was 880, how many students appeared in the examination, if the examination consisted only of these two subjects.

Answer to A i believe depends on the values of l,b and h, so cant be directly predicted
Answer to B is 660 i think

Answer is 2200, 0.48x failed in hindi, 0.32x failed in history of which 0.2x failed in both. So failed in hindi alone is 0.48x-0.20x=0.28x and failed in history alone is 0.32x-0.20x=0.12x
So total failure= 0.20x+0.28x+0.12x=0.60x
Total passed is 40%=880
When 40% is 880, 100% is 2200

Taking the total as T=100 .. Using Venn Diagram we can say that 60% students failed in examination with 20 in both, 28 in Hindi and 12 in History=Total of 60 . Therefore, 880 is 40% of 2200 which is the answer. :)

The given solution is :
Each installment = X rupeesTherefore, --> (X + (X * 12 *1)/100) + (X + (X * 12 *2)/100) + X = 1092 --> (28X/25) + (31X/25) + X = 1092 --> (28X +31X + 25X) = (1092 * 25) --> 84x = 1092 * 25 So, X = (1092*25)/84 X = 27300/84 X = 325 rupees

There is one direct Formula which we can use to solve these kind of Questions.
It is :- Annual Installment= (100 x Amount)/100T +(RT(T-1)/2)
Put the values of Amount, Time and Rate in the above formula and u'll get the Answer 😃 as 325.
