Official Thread - IIMB EPGP 8 aspirants - Class of 2016-17 - One year full time residential program

Hi,

Could you evaluate my profile and advice please?

10th - CBSE - 84.40%

12th - CBSE - 88.40%

BE (E&C) - RGTU (State Technological University of Madhya Pradesh) - 79.09%

GMAT - 650 (Q-49, V-30, AWA-4, IR-5)

Presently, I'm working as systems engineer at TCS and would have little over 4 years of experience by Mar, 2016. I'm working in a project for a large UK based financial institution and have been involved in all phases of project ranging from requirement gathering to implementation. Though I don't have onshore experience, I'm experienced in working in onshore-offshore based model and dealing with international clients. I have also completed a diploma in Business Analysis from TCS business domain academy (IIBA endorsed education provider) and have received multiple appreciation awards from clients and TCS. I'm an active member of TCS CSR club and volunteered in many social initiatives.

I wanted to know whether it would be good idea to apply with above profile.

Thanks

Hi Everyone,

I have taken my GMAT test 2 days back and want to apply for ISB and IIMs. Please evaluate my profile and give your valuable suggestions

GMAT: 700 (Q50 V35)

10th:  91%

12th:  94%

BTech: 7.0 CGPA from NIT, Warangal (Computer Science & Engineering)

4. Electronic gadget enthusiastic.

5. Participated in Cultural fests and Tech fests in NITW as Event manager.

6. Member of "Cyber security committee" in DRDO.

7. A budding guitarist (Just started learning :P)

8. National Cadet Corps (NSS) 'A' certificate holder and participated in summer camp at Warangal.

Awards & achievements:

My Work Profile:

I joined DRDO as a Scientist B on 4th Dec, 2008.Since then I have been working in the field of Control & Guidance systems for Autonomous underwater vehicles. My work is more of a classified type. So here I will explain as much as I am allowed to.

1.  I have been involved in design and development of Guidance system for underwater systems. I have developed software programs to conduct Hardware In-Loop Simulation for underwater vehicles

2. I have developed a modern guidance algorithm in association with IISc, Banglore. All the modeling and simulation to prove the algorithms were carried out using Matlab/Simulink.

3. I have carried out pre and post sea trial data analysis of various underwater vehicles and implemented the subsequent modifications in guidance laws as and when required.

4. Developed GUI based test software to conduct acceptance tests on sensors using VC++.

5. Implemented embedded coding on some latest miniaturized boards like LPC 1768.

As I was working in an R&D organization, I have a little scope to manage people. I am leading a team of 2 Technical officers presently.  I had the privilege to interact with many foreign technicians at the time of product installation and training sessions.

I have two main queries:

1. Is my GMAT score competitive enough to apply for ISB or IIMs? Or it is better to re-take the GMAT.

2. Can my confidential work become a problem while I prepare my application? (This is a more specific question- If any DRDO people who applied for Bschool, please respond).

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Praveen Kumar V

Hello EPGP team, Tentative dates for Interviews in Round 1 are given as Sept 12th and 13th. When does the candidate get notified that he/she is shortlisted for interview ?

Is it necessary for referee to be working at present? What kind of contact information or her/his current organization information is required from a referee?

Hi, to the IIMB EPGP representative, i had a query.

I had an Eureka moment just now regarding my GMAT scores, that is found that a GMAT score i had obtained in October 2010 can be used as the EPGP website mentions that scores after Oct 2010 are valid. I have a 710 in that test.

I wanted to check with you if there is a negative effect to submitting a GMAT that is very old and still valid (in the sense could IIMB ask me to retake the test ? ). Also, will there be lesser weightage for an older score ?

I am preparing to take the GMAT on the 22nd of this month and am very jittery about it as i have been getting mixed results (740 on the GMAT prep,  590 to 640 on the Manhattan GMAT tests). Knowing that i can use the 2010 GMAT scores will provide me relief and a better mindset as i can approach the test on the 22nd in a more relaxed manner.

My profile is as below:

About the recommendations....

Does the designation of the referee matter (apart from the fact that he/she should be senior to me), ie. would a recommendation from person 3 levels above bear more weight than the recommendation coming from a person just 1 level above me? Also, can I get the recommendations from 2 people who are at the same designations (in the same organisation), but have been my supervisors, at different points of time?

Is it possible to have one recommendation from reporting manager from previous org. and another from a colleague at same level in the current org., who has worked in the same team/group.

Personal email id of the person is also fine?

Hi ,

I am planning to take another attempt at GMAT later this month around the R1 deadline. Meanwhile, can i submit the application with my Old GMAT score, so that i dont miss out on the deadline ?

I would then send the new score report through email, as soon as i receive. Thanks ,

Krishna.

what is the minimum work experience to be eligible for this programm

Hello Everyone, sorry If Iam repeating the question

Is official GMAT report sent from pearson cumpolsary, or PDF report will  suffice

Hi,

I am an IT professional with around 8 years of java development experience. Can someone please guide me with specialization stream-finance, strategy etc.- that I should go for.

Hi,

I am working as a scientist in a central govt. R&D for 4 years and have 5 research publications.

1. I have a GRE score of 318. Are there people in the EPGP program with a GRE score and not GMAT score? Are there people with just 4years exp ?

2. What is the difference between the first and second round of application in terms of competitiveness or seat available, or any similar parameter.

Thanks in advance.

Awaiting a reply.

@EPGP_IIMB is there anyone in current batch with GMAT 650 & IT experience? Would like to know GMAT cut off for IT folks..as its usually higher for them.

Hi Team,

I would like to know, is there any exam criteria for executive course . Is it possible to get recommended from my current manager to enroll for 1yr excecutive course?

In the references details, when we have to provide referees' organization name, Is it the current one ? If not, can we make changes after we have received the recommendation?

Where do we upload the certificates for achievements etc

I have the following queries:

1. Which of these recommendations will work best? I have 4 yrs work exp.

a. HOD of my college department, also my final yr. project guide.

b. a colleague from my current office, who is one rank above me. But I have never reported to him.

c. IIT-Asst. Prof. I did a 1 month project under.

I can get 1 or more recomendations from the category b. (My current reporting officer doesnt give recommendations.)

2. Is personal email-id ok for recommendations ? How much importance does recommendations carry in an application?

3. In the application percentage is asked. I have CGPA mentioned in my certificate. Does the board ask for CGPA to percentage convertor followed by the university at the post-application phase.

4. Is training period considered as a work experience. (I had 1.5 yrs training period with rigorous classes etc.)

Thanks in advance.

Awaiting a reply.

Please evaluate my profile:

12th - 73% CBSE(2006)

B.E - 75%  RGPV University Bhopal (2007-2011)

Extra Activities:

Having NCC A Certificate

Won few internal awards like on the spot award in my current organisation.

Currently I am having exact 4 years experience in India as Software developer and Big Data  . I am planning to give GMAT in few months time .

So considering my short profile and assuming SOP and remaining things are fine how much would you say the GMAT score will put my candidature in good position .And apart from that anything else that you would suggest to improve my profile as i have substantial  amount of time as i am targeting 2017-2018 batch

Thanks
