No there are no sectional cut offs - we look at only the overall percentile

1) I read on your website about accreditation from dept of education australlia and the degree that we wud be gettng wud hav the same mentioned on it.. will this degree be given only to students who spend a term at australian university or for every SPJ student.
2) Also can you please tell us the no of students that you take each year.. and how many students will there be for april 2010 intake ?
3) Does Mumbai SPJIMR play any role for placements..can we sit for placemnts at SPJIMR mumbai ?
4) Could you pls give us goegraphy wise placemnts statistics for the last batch.

Could you please recommend if re-appearing for spjat on jan 16th and improving my percentile can improve my chances of the selection or not ?

hi...I have registered for the SPJAT, to be conducted on 16th January at Mumbai.but today when i tried to generate my hall ticket, i got an error as "Incorrect Email-Id. or Test Venue", where as i have the print out of the registeration and i am putting the correct entry only.Please help me ASAP as the test date is nearing and i am extremely worried whether I will be able to sit for teh exam or not.Kindly Reply ASAP.Thank You in advance.

Hi Shweta,
My query is slightly unusual I guess...as I am not very sure of the superspecialisation that I should opt for...because of the following reason...
I applied twice to GMBA and got rejections in following choices...
1st attempt - ITM in Dec '08 (here my 2nd choice was IB) -> applied with spjat 71 %tile...which I can understand was very low.
2nd attempt - IBWM in April '09 (here my 2nd choice was ITM) -> applied with CAT 85%tile...not sure what went wrong here apart from case study...which was highly theoretical and require sound knowledge of IBWM.
I am deeply interested to persue IBWM and switch from IT to Finance but I see in IBWM batch profiles, students are from Finance background like CAs or have certificates like NCFM etc. There are very few who switch from IT to IBWM unless they were already into BFSI in IT prior to GMBA.
I want to know....does GMBA gives advantage to only those who have relevant work ex? I might be wrong in quoting this but it seems logical from school's stand point...as this improves the overall batch profile and placements stats...which is even more important when the course is of 1 yr course. But...don't you think that ppl can do MBA to enter into different industries i.e. industry of their choices...so should be seen as equal even if they're switching, provided they fulfil all other criteria?
Also, opting specialisation at the time of applying is not the most common way that other B schools around the world or in India follow. I hardly have noticed ppl have been selected in their 2nd choice of specialisation in GMBA, so not sure if that ever comes into picture?
Anyway, I am giving you a brief of my current profile and looking for your thoughts or thoughts from ad-com's point of view, as to which specialisation should I go with...ITM or IBWM:
Work-ex - 55 months (till March 31st 2010) in IT, working for a reknowned HR consulting firm in role similar to a Business Analyst (in Benefits domain, have to deal with numbers, calculations...it is not core IT but we provide in-house/properiatary IT solutions)
BE (Honors) - 76%
12th - 77%
10th - 69%
EC - Average
CAT 2008 - 85 %tile ...I am taking spjat also on Jan 16.
Your response is crucial for me to decide my choice of specialization as I am keen to know how ad-com looks at my profile. My interest is in IBWM but do you rate realistic chance based on my profile and history? I have not submitted my GMBA appl yet.
A quick response would be highly appreciable and helpful to me.

Your aptitude test score seems fine and it may be due to some other factors that your application is not shortlsited - like maybe your work is less than 2 years or yor academics are not first class etc.

Hi,
We have taken in students who have been from different backgrounds and have got admission into the Finance stream. When a student wishes to make a switch in his/her specialisation, we expect the student to have a logical reason as to why he/she wishes to make this switch just to ensure that it is not merely on a whim. Also we would expect the students to have read up well enough on the subject area that they wish to switch and also have done some addtional certificate courses etc on the same. The more you show your inclination towards the subject in which you have no background the more convinced the panel would be of your genuine interest to pursue the same.
So whether its IBWM or ITM that you opt for pls make sure that it is because you have a geniuine interest in the same and also are clear about your future with that specialisation and that it is not for the wrong reasons that you are selecting this field - for e.g because it is the highest remuneration earner etc

Once a candidate gets call for evaluations .. For the selection , Does the admission comm. add the score of GMAT-CAT-SPJAT with the performance in case study,panel interview,personal interview?) Or its just how person performs in the later..??:shock:

I did not get a call last tome for nov batch and now also in first round i was waitlisted but not called ! second round calls for 31st jan have also started ! I do not understand what is missing in my profile !
Hence I have sent a mail to gmba today regarding the change of pref to
1 SMM
2 IT
I have more than 2 yrs work ex in IT and scores 71%ile in SPAT in sep 2009.
Will giving SPJAT again and scoring more solve the problem ! Kindly recommend ??
