I am having trouble with an easy question. The question is- A shopkeeper marks up an item by 50%, and then offers successive discounts of 20% and 5%. What percentage profit will he end up making as a result?
My approach- net successive discount- 26%. now, SP= 0.74*1.5*CP and thus profit percentage= [(0.74*1.5)-1] *100. Thus my answer comes out to be 11%. Is this correct? Where am i going wrong?
