A Day with Arvind Subramanian (Former Chief Economic Advisor to the Government)
Mr Arvind Subramanian – Former Chief Economic Advisor to the Government of India, visited Krea University, Sri City campus on 17th December 2019. All the students were very excited and filled with enthusiasm and zeal of what was he going to deliver.
He started with his experience as a chief economic advisor, where he joined with an ambitious mindset. He carried out a lot of Qualitative research in Policy Framing with a team which was exposed to latest technology and research, happening around the globe. In his tenure, he got the privilege to work with young minds who had a sense of being an Indian within them.
Who can describe the current state of Indian Economy, other than Former Chief Economic Advisor himself! He addressed various factors which played significant role in the slowdown of the economy. He discussed about how the Twin Balance Sheet problem now, has become a Four Balance Sheet problem. He mentioned that the standard remedies may not work here. Lastly, he gave three puzzle questions to the students on the recent trends.
He dedicated his major time for answering various questions posed by the students. He was very keen to take the questions and answer them. He answered questions on NBFC crisis, GST rate hike and compensation, and many more. He, then interacted with the faculty.
This interaction helped the students to get insights on the current state of the economy as well as their underlying macro-economic factors, from the former CEA. It helped the management students in understanding various factors which contribute to make any decision.
