I am already 26 years old. I graduated in 2008. Am I too old to do an mba now? Will my age (29-30 when I sit for placements) be a huge factor when I sit for placements?
Well age def will be a factor but then it depends on what you want with you mba....b schools have a few people in that age group as well..but below 5%of the batch....so i personally do not think that age.factor should hold you back....what i said is for a 2 yr programme...
You can also try for 1yr programmes..equally good....and probably you will be in the younger population if you try for 1yr programmes....
Its worth giving a shot sir...after all its the learning process that matters..not the age....
Adding on to that if you are looking for a.sector change that will be the difficult part....
To my knowledge, age is just a number. My friend got into IIM B at 29 years for a 2 year full time PGP MBA. What requires is your skill set and talent that adds value to the class room. I prefer you to start your prep right away and stop worrying from these issues. No college will deny a person with high merit. All the best bro!
@saurav205 The point of getting the MBA is to get my career back on track after my business venture ran into some trouble. So, there are issues with my profile as well. Getting a placement from the MBA is very important for me.
The 1 year programs (exec MBAs) need 7-10 years of work ex. They are also more expensive than the 2 year programs.
@Maddyboy86 The pre-MBA work ex / profile matters a lot. I don't have blue chip / MNC experience. I just tried starting up and running my own business which did not take off. so it is not that great of a profile.
Also, he got into IIM B. My acads from UG are not that great.
@SMS87 age doesn't matter but experience matters..... one of my seniors got into IIM C at 30 with job exp of 3.5yrs .... well he got placed in Foreign company with hansome package ... so its never a matter of age..... well if you think of other factors like marriage and other things than it can be good for you to do E-MBA
@SMS87 Reg. your age factor query, I happen to see this in IIM k site and wanted to share this...check out P SUDHIR KUMAR- PGP student(2012-2014 batch) in the following link
I heard that one should get at least 97 % ile to get a call from any one of the iims (including new ones, general ). Any one know what are the approx no of marks sholud be scored out of 30+30 ques in cat to reach 97 %ile in CAT ?
@ashburn sorry buddy I really dont know I, too, am a mere MBA aspirant as you...one thing I know of is IIMK gives huge weightage to acads...I dont think they would prefer NITians over IITians..
@SMS87 actually there is A++ grade in which IIM A,B,C and XLRI falls.... rest are A+ grade... so its up to you to get into such colleges ... actually the college also plays important role.... in placement...
@Pradeep_Rss yes you heard correctly, this year 97% was the cut off of the new IIMs. Regarding the second part of your query, it completely depends on the accuracy level. One can score 97% with "x" attempts while ensuring "y%" accuracy and same can be done with "y" attempts while having "x%" accuracy, so you see there is no concrete answer to this. But to give you a hint i scored 96.3% and attempted 23+17 questions with around 90% accuracy.
PS- i am not adding to any speculation, as i said it completely depends on your accuracy level.
A Man standing ona boat south of a light house observes his shadow to be 24 m long as measured at the sea level. on sailing 300 m eastwards , he finds his shadow as 30 m long, measured in a similar manner. the ht of the man is 6 m abve sea leavel. what is the ht of light house?
