Hi guys, this is an unusual question but your suggestions are needed.
I'm currently working and i managed to get 1 month leave from work (for CAT) at any time i wish.My current aimcat percentiles are in the range of 70-80. what would be the best time to avail the leave ? would it be right now or would it be before the exams ?

@GONA In my opinion now is the best time as just before the exams anyway people tend to study a bit more (even if they are busy) because of the exam pressure. Also in case you get many calls then you will have to take leaves for the GD PIs also because it happens that they fall on weekdays, so just plan accordingly.
@ravihanda I will write CMAT on 26 Sept and CAT on 29 Oct. I gave SIMCMAT 1 and scored 295... and I'm getting around 95 percentile in SIMCATs with best being 98 percentile and lowest being 88 percentile....so what should I do should I do some focussed prep for CMAT or should go on preparing for CAT???

Hi Guys, I had been searching a lot to know how exactly the CAT SCORE is calculated and how PERCENTILE is given for the paper we attempt. As per my knowledge after going through lot of articles I conclude below method but still have few doubts. Can anybody who did valuable research on this area please clarify them?
Step1) Calculating the raw score (+3 for correct and -1 for wrong)
Step2) Multiplying the raw score with a factor that normalizes your score and is equated
Step3) The above equated score is placed on a scale of 225 for each section
Step4) Assigning percentiles for every individual based on the score obtained
Below are few doubts I have
1) Any body will get an integral score (out of 225) in a section. Hence while calculating percentile, there can be only 225 distinct percentile values. Suppose I get 110 in QA & DI and my percentile is 89.61, then all the candidates who got the same score (say 5000 candidates) should get the same percentile. But we generally see lot of percentiles near this mark (89.50, 89.89 etc.) How is it possible?
2) What should one do in a paper? Attempt difficult questions or easy questions? In my opinion attempting easy questions and maximising your raw score is the only way to boost your percentile
3) There is zero information about the range of the equated score. Is it similar to raw score or scaled score?
Hey guys, I wanted to know if using older conceptual material for quant and reasoning would be an issue. Do IMS and TIME drastically revise their basic material (say over 4-5 years) or is the content fairly the same?

@HopeInMe Panicking is the last thing you want right now. Just keep at it, keep studying, keep going through the basics, for verbal: dont stop reading, read as much as you can, keep dictionary with you while you read, keep an eye on time while you read, increase your speed of reading, it will help in comprehension. Also analyze your mocks as to where exactly you are going wrong.
Am sure if you are honest with your preparation you will get a decent score in the actual CAT.
And just like your name says "HopeInMe". Keep hope, because as in a movie someone said: "Hope is a good thing, may be the best of things, and no good thing ever dies" All the best!!!

Hi, i appeared for CAT 2011, converted K & I and couple of others, but wanted a, b or c. After the disappointment started my own business, running pretty well. Now i want to take on cat again but haven't prepared till now. Will definitely go for cat 2014 but not sure about 2013. Kindly suggest.

Hello, I have done Computer Engineering and I am currently doing a job. My date of joining in job was 1st July. I am giving CAT-13 and during registration they asked about the job experience and in the brackets it was mentioned that experience must be from 30th August,2013. So what should i mention in that field? As when i get admission in some college, my exp will be 1 year but now while filling the form, it is of 2 months. Please help.
