I wrote my Class 10 & 12 exams from a State Board which uses a kind of different method for arriving at the final score. Though all subjects mentioned in the mark-sheet are taken into account while computing the total marks obtained, there is a subject called an 'additional subject'.
Suppose there are a total of 9 subjects mentioned in the mark-sheet including the 'additional' one, each carrying a maximum of 100 marks. The final score is [the summation of marks obtained in the first 8 subjects + (marks obtained in the 9th paper - 34)]. Here, 34 is the minimum marks needed to pass in a subject.
It's explicitly mentioned in the mark-sheet that the 'Full marks' is 800 (not 900), and divisions or grades are awarded on the basis of percentages obtained by considering 800 as the maximum.
This system was adopted by the State Board to make the marks of its students comparable to those of other Boards as ours was a very low scoring Board. And, if we compute a simple percentage of all subjects, then the final score would fall by 8% - 9%, which may end up to be a certain killer for many! 😟
Please can you suggest how to calculate percentages in this case while filling in the CAT Registration Form? May one face a disqualification for this in the PI round in case he/she gets a call?
Someone please enlighten on this... Those who are from West Bengal Board may understand my pain better!

Hi!
Please help me identify where I stand and what is the benchmark for good enough and what all do I need to do to get through to the IIM's?
My profile is as follows:
Class X: 90.6%(ICSE)

Class XII: 87%(CBSE), 93.33 in PCM 😛
B.E.: 8.48 CGPA (with conversion formula of 10, absolute and not comparitive)

Will get extra 5 points for female quota as well 😛

I have joined coaching classes at Bullseye, Chandigarh, which I believe are subpar.
I have been giving Bullseye's mock and have almost consistently maintained a 80-90 percentile range.
I joined TIME's AIMCAT series just recently and AIMCAT 1416 was my first test attempt of the series. I scored an overall score of 51 and AIR 3483, CR 75 and 82.37 percentile.

Wat should be the ideal %ile for converting an IIM??... i heard IIM C dnt look at grad marks...

I am from OBC category... wat shud b the ideal %ile for IIM C conversion depending on a decent

Hi, I am Bhushan here.

My scores are:10th => 95%

12th => 75%

B.Tech. => 8.35/10.

No work experience.

I am OBC non creamy category.

Do let me know my odds of getting call from IIMs. & other top 10 B schools.

So How much should i need to score??

Hi my Academic records are as below:
10th science : 80%
12th PCMB: 67%
Btech (UPTU): 65%
No Gap and backlogs
After that 21 months exp.
I wanted to know which colleges shud i focus on.
Is there any chance for IIMs?

because they value academics a lot.

and how gud are new IIMs will be in terms of value of degree and placements
Please tell me a list of b schools i shud apply.
And what is deadlines in these schools, whether after CAT results or before only.

hey puys... I just finished my b. tech, as in 2013. I already gave CAT once last year, scored 92 percentile and couldn't convert it. I got placed now, must tell you, the company is good. I have 2 months of training from now. I really cant tell if I can manage with both learnings, totally not related to each other..So now I am in a fix as to should I give the exam this year or if I should give it next year. Any sugestions pls....

Please answer this question as i'm pretty much confused..
Q- Six (6) months project based internship (Unpaid), i.e, included in B.tech curriculum, Will it be considered as Work experience for IIFT, XAT, IIMs or any other mba college ? Some people say we can write this in our resume section under work experience ..some says can't ? Please help as i'm filling up forms for IIFT.

can anyone tell me for majority of good b schools how much is the time gap between declaration of final result and commencement of the classes.
Because my company has three months notice period.
I m confused if i get a good score then whether i shud wait for the final selection in any college or put resignation before only after CAT results.

also i read about University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES), Dehradun from a site.

do they consider only cat or even cmat and other exams??

Hello guys! I am new 2 this site. I am appearing in CAT '13. I have got 7.34 GPA(till sem-6) in my engineering. I got 80% in ClassX & 74.4% in class XII. Can u tell me how much are my chances to get into a top B-school(including IIMs)?
