@isiddharth i forgot to mention details on the back of DD, i have mailed the nmims team. waiting for reply. can u assist what should be done.....

Anybody from Noida or Delhi NCR who os goin for GE /PI ?

my photo id xerox is not attested.....is it gonna be a problem??

@isiddharth Okay! Never mind. πŸ˜ƒ Is there any data you can provide regarding the placements for the HR course?

@isiddharth My previous question was just posed to evaluate the expenses and the returns. Since I belong to Delhi, 2 years in Mumbai on my own plus the college fees would burn my pocket completely. So it'd be really great if you could give a little info about the placements in HR for the last year.
@isiddharth And thank you for the wishes. πŸ˜ƒ I really hope to make it to NM which is one of the really good calls that I have this year.

isiddharth okay, will keep a check on the website. Are placements mentioned specifically for the HR in the report?

It is a case study :

A company called XYZ inc. produces a low cost 'nofrills' photocopier which is very reliable, and has a large market share as well. Now a rival company named ABC inc. has produced a new expensive photocopier costing twice the nofrills photocopier. This has attracted high end users, and is starting to cut into the sales of the nofrills photocopier machines of XYZ. Moreover, it is receiving rave reviews in the media as well. The executives of XYZ inc. are a worried lot.

Some of them think that the company should go for increased R&D; so as to produce a new high end product of their own, while others prefer sticking to the old one. What should they do so that XYZ could get back the market share and sustain leadership in photocopier market segment??
Analysis of Topic 3 : GD based on case : What should they do so that XYZ could get back the market share and sustain leadership in photocopier market segment??(Courtsey: Sagar aka sagarragas )

Scenario 1:

Assumption made: The ABC's product is superior in terms of quality offered than that of the XYZ's.
Action to be taken:
1. The XYZ Inc. needs to analyse whether it can support a product with similar quality as that of the rival company. Thus, it would have to perform a cost benefit analysis to ascertain the financial capabilities of the company.
2. It needs to decide whether it needs to bring out a new product or improve the existing one. This would mean that it would have to look at the consumers' perspective of the product. By introducing a new product, XYZ would have to ascertain the effect the new product would have on the revenue of the older product and also the revenue of the company by large.
3. If the decision is taken about rolling out a new product, then the procurement of higher quality raw materials required would have to be looked into. The vendors for the new requirements have to be shortlisted based on various criteria like cost, lead time, reliability among others. If the existing product is to be changed, then it needs to be assessed as to which components will have to undergo modifications and the subsequent changes required with the vendor.
4. The marketing and sales strategies need to be looked into. - few suggestions on strategies can be suggested in discussion on this.

Scenario 2:

Assumption made:The ABC's product offers more functionalities than that of the XYZ's.
Action to be taken:

1. One needs to assess the effect of the functionalities on a new product. One needs to take a call after looking at the actual requirement for a new product. If ABC would not eat into the market share further and release of a new product would not be feasible, then no new actions have to be taken.
2. The R&D; department will have to work on the new product to suggest the modifications to offer a new product with added functionalities to combat with the rival. It needs to be seen whether the functionalities will have to match the rival product or exceed the expectations. One of the major factors that will have bearing will be the cost of the project per se. The time required for the introduction of the new product will also affect the outcome of the product.
3. Reverse engineering would mean that the better functionalities offered by the rival product will have to be traced back to the modifications in the design of the XYZ's product without looking into the design changes present in the rival product. This offers an ethical solution and could offer one of the best designs.
4. Marketing of the new product now assumes a major importance and the budget allocated for this exercise would have to be kept an eye on.

Scenario 3:

Other reasons for the change in the market share.
Action to be taken:
1. It could be assessed that the marketing model deployed could be better for the rival company or the high end users are targeted in a different approach without any changes in the benefits offered. The changes in the marketing strategies would thus have to be looked into. If the public believes that the exceeded price of the product is marked with a status value, then the strategies will have to be different than those if the value add is due to the quality or the functionalities offered itself.
2. If factors like untimely delivery of the product or inferior after sales services are the reasons for the disparity in the sales, then the business models have to be modified.
3. Reasons like credit offered could be the reason for the change observed. If so, the liquidity of the reserves in the company will have to be assessed to take a decision on the changes in the payment system.

The methodology used to improve the market share:
1. Estimate the factors in play for the reduction in the sales. Demographic, political, financial and other reasons have to be assessed. Appropriate steps as suggested above need to be taken.
2. A decision has to be taken whether the old product has to continue or a new product has to replace the old one or a new product has to be announced along with the sales of the old product.
3. The cost of the exercise of implementing the changes have to be assessed as the main motive of the company will be to increase the profitability of the company and not undermine it especially in the long run. If the company falls short of finances then alternative investments will have to be looked into.
4. Appropriate marketing decisions need to be taken along with adequate budget allocation for the same.

Hi , can someone help me , does NMIMS consider changing slots ? I have already dispatched my documents , I have interview for NMIMS on 16th , and new IIMs too on same date , this is seriously making me worried now , I have already emailed IIM Raipur regarding this , but I really don't know what would they do to my request, I have got my air tickets booked too , which will cost me badly now if NMIMS considers a change in interview date , please help puys

P.S 3 saal ghiske calls laoo , and then waste your calls as you have clashing interviews , I wish all colleges did it SPJ way , chose your own slot

I have heard that NMIMS is asking for call letters of the clashing institute, but haven't given out any decision.... Why can't they allow us to select our own slots

Man, I've been caught up in a similar situation, but my NMIMS interview is thankfully on the 15th, and IIMs on the 16th.

Spent a lot of money on cancellations and rescheduling.
Sigh.
Why dont you write to NMIMS instead of IIMs?
Why cant people choose slots. Atleast for NMIMS if not IIMs.

hey puys can any one upload a few case studies with solutions or give a link to case studies??

@pk.mit dont knowe man , yes thinking of calling NMIMS on Monday too , will have to get my air tickets shuffled and suffer a loss , these colleges are seriously too much
